how to copy a blueprint (with it's storage) to a new save?
hey guys,

i want to take the CV in my experimental 12.3 savegame to a new 12.4 game (with it's stored items, not just the naked BP which can be spawned using sbp, i know)

i did this a while ago back in alpha 10, but i can't seem to remember exactly how i did it.

i think, there were folders for every BP in the empyrion/saves/games/current save/shared folder, like SV_xy CV_xx or something like that. it was quite easy, just start a new game, spawn the ship, exit game and copy the file from the old savegame to the new one.

but every folder in the shared dir is now just a number. either i don't remember it right, or it has been changed? i guess, the numbers might be the ID's of the blueprints which can be shown using the DI command? or maybe i am totally wrong... :P

could anyone help me out her? :)

I don't recall ever being able to deliberately copy a BP's storage along with it. I've noticed from time to time that some containers behave like POI containers and might have some junk loot in them when I first access them, but never a whole intact inventory exactly as I saved it.

Use the item menu and replace the player core with an admin core.
Then save the blueprint and check the "save damage states" box.

Using the "sbp" command, you can then spawn your ship and all the inventory from the blueprint. Simply replace the admin core with a player core and turn off sbp when you're done.

No file manipulation needed. :D

Test this first of course.

I went ahead and tried the old method, didn't feel like messing with my core :) worked like a charm, the only thing that is not copied over are the fuel/o2 tank levels.

in case any one want to do this as well, you need to find out the ID of your CV, SV, Base or whatever using the DI command then find the folder in empyrion/saves/games/your current save game/shared/ID. in there is a file named 0.area.

start a new game, spawn in the object you want to duplicate, find out the ID, exit game, go to the folder in empyrion/saves/games/new game/shared/New ID and copy 0.area from your old game.

In the future GM is God Mode and will allow you to phase through everything. Use that and the Shift+Left Click to delete the core. Do not think you will have to mess with extenders. In the end that is simpler but only if you use the GM with it.

GM is also good if you are checking out a cool BP from the WS. Allows you to see where everything is from one position.

thanks, i know how to GM. i just didn't want to play around with the admin core if all i had to do was to copy 1 file over from my old save :)
