Base filled with dirt

I just resumed game and base is filled with dirt. I loaded yesterday saved game same thing. Does anyone have a fix for this. I have hours in game and don't want to start over.

In the most technical sense it's not actually "dirt". It's a bug that was created by changes made back in Alpha 10. You built underground? You inadvertently created the conditions that trigger this bug. Though this fake terrain is impervious and can't be directly altered, you don't need to: it's a temporary effect. Reloading the same saved game will likely clear it, at least for a time, but as long as the conditions remain it is possible it will reoccur. You might think of it as the game trying to "fill in" or "stitch together" terrain that has been separated.

The best advice for the time being is to avoid building a base that creates terrain above and below. Leveling terrain a bit is safe to avoid it, but levelling an entire mountaintop probably is not.

Thank you for the reply. I down loaded base from Workshop, the land was flat just north of starting area. I had this problem years ago and that is when I stopped playing game. I restarted game load in base and it is fine I go out side and go back in and then filled with DIRT...

1. place a grow plot nearby to the "dirt"
2. place a sprout in the plot
3. use the multitool to pick up the sprout again,
(or harvest anything nearby)

just do this , anything that causes a terrain update will fix it. It's not that commonly happening.

On the contrary, it's almost guaranteed to happen eventually when you create the ideal conditions for triggering it.

True Tourist. I find some POI's always cause it, and others wont, until the one day, and then later it never happens in the POI. I now suspect that not every base is totally immune, but when it bugs , it bugs often, and roughly in the same place. Have only been able to resolve it by digging my base out even wider and re-loading. Not had too much pain lately though.

I recall you posted some epic terrain holes the other day. I fell through a nasty one myself this weekend - I just kept falling and spawning again, like portal.

This stuff happaned to me 2. I had to dig out my base and it is totally annoying.

We're all experiencing this, and yet it hasn't been repeatable/reproducible enough for Eleon to identify and fix it. We can also say with relative certainty that it began happening after the drill and terrain handling changes in Alpha 10, and yet even that isn't enough of a clue?

Is this still a thing? I was just progressing in a singleplayer session with Reforged Eden. I was tunneling under a Zrx POI to kill it and steal its goodies but the terrain was just impervious to drilling. Have also seen this recently on an RE server.
