What is going on with not being able to play
Ok, I reallly like playing this game. I have almost 950 hours playing. Problem now is I can't play AT ALL. Since the last patch I can't play a single player game or a server game. When the game goes to start loading up the content, it gets an internal error and crashes. I've uninstalled, deleted the folder under steam apps, and reinstalled a couple of times and still get the same internal error. Now what am I to try and get this up and running ago, so should I just give up on this game?

Have you previously modded the game and left those files in place without updating them to reflect the current state of the game?

There are more folders to remove other than the Steam folders...

Goto c:/user/PCname/AppData/LocaLow/EleonGameStudios

Probably Registry entries also, run CCleaner once and that should clean all the empyrion files out.

I had to do this after the last 2 updates to 9.6 to get it to install properly.

Curious; what I've been forced to do with all the attempts at 9.6.0 is delete the existing client Empryrion.exe in order to even convince Steam to begin the download. Otherwise, Steam complains that it lacks the proper file permissions to overwrite it. This ONLY happens with the client EXE of the game, not the dedicated server EXE, oddly.

This never happened until the 9.6.0 rollercoaster updates.

Yeah VT, this never happens to my dedicated, just my playing PC.

ok, tried the above suggestion of using cleaner after uninstall, still same problem of internal error due to file denial

If this in any way ties back to Themida, we should be demanding that a few heads roll.

File denial? Like it does not have write permissions? If so run steam as admin and launch game thru steam

Clear your steam cache too

+ on the disabling your VP first.

CCleaner doesn't clean any game/install/steam files or folders of any kind!

CCleaner Does fix and remove all registry entries that are broken or left over from a previous install such as empyrions registry entries left behind after you uninstall. It's a great FREE tool everyone should use to remove all residual registry entries when you remove a game or a program. It's clutter that doesn't need to be there.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. Seems that the antivirus was the problem even though there is an exception for the whole steam and steamapps files.

What exactly was the "internal error"?

it was denying files............and now it's up to it's tricks again even with the exception

"Denying files"? Specificity matters. Are you talking about a Steam update installation error regarding file permissions?

I also have to turn my AV off to get Empyrion to run. Same issue, denied files, despite having an exception for the entire Empyrion directory structure in my AV.
