Or turn on attach to base (stand on base and press N)
don't get mad, i know that, and i'm doing this, and pressing "N" does not give me the option of attach, it says "can't attach" or something simillar. i'v started 3 times now, thinking the save-game was bugged / corrupted, even checked the game files in steam... its weird, people keep telling me it should work like that, but it does not.
i'll see if i can record it later on, and place a link to the vid.
I had that problems some days ago, where I have produced some wrong walkways.
you don't need to be that mean in "spoiler", my brain is just fine.
Yes, i used a base starter block and yes that is an "white" icon, yes i do exactly wat people say and do on youtube, even used google for info, and i all do that, yet it won't do it. having a bug in a game has nothing to do with my brain. but thanks for your useless reply.
and as per usually, forums are toxic, troll infested places (no offence to the few nice people on forums).
I had the same problem placing a base starter block the other day. I couldn't attach another large block to it. I couldn't destroy it either, it didn't have an ID so I couldn't even destroy it in console mode (I'm in an SP game). It's still sitting there. So anyone assuming the OP is clueless may just mean they're clueless.
If you could post a screenshot showing the problem that would help. Show yourself trying to place a block on your base, and have the N build menu open.
Does it give you any error message when you try to place blocks?
thanks, i knew i was not alone in this problem.
that said, its fixed, it started to work again and i have no clue how, i was fed up because no one wanted to believe me, so i recorded it, did it all over again, crafted a new starter block, new base concrete blocks, went to the spot, i was before, where the already placed starter block was and i noticed i now got the interact option for that placed block ?! i was confused to say the least, placed concrete block next to the already placed starter block with no problems??
did it work now because i had a new crafted base starter block in inventory? i don't know, but it all works now, weird.
After I failed at trying to work with that one or deleting it, I placed another without problems. I changed nothing. I should log back in and see if I can place next to the one that was still sitting there when I logged out...
this is a weird problem, i tryed for hours on end, relogging "make a note i did not restart the game, whent to main menu and back into the save", the second one i place did not work either, then i gave up for a couple of hours, whent here posted the "bug" got flamed at by a jerk, got a tiny bit mad about it and wanted to record the issue, so i did and all worked fine then, actually got even more mad then, because now its even harder to make people understand i really did all correct but it did not work from the first time. ohwell,
i start to think, its a render issue, you place the block, but the game thinks its not placed yet, i play on max graphic settings, have fine steady fps.. i don't know, em just wildly guessing here.
I am on a GTX980, 2015 graphics card, I run in MP and SP with vid settings at absolute max for EVERYTHING, and highest resolution, my frame rate rolls around 48 to 70 so there are definitely combinations of hardware Unity likes better than others but I dont know if that would impact this block placement issue, I would guess its more likely to be related to the 'sim' speed if that was the case, like you Im guessing lol !
I dont know if its a rendering issue or block ID issue but its something they will fix once they track it down.
i would guess a block ID issue. Without a block ID, which mine didn't have, you can't place anything next to it since it doesn't appear to the game to actually be there.
