Theres always MMOs like Eve or DU, take a look at them, but in gaming you dont always get what you pay for, so read all about there subscription costs first.
That is why I am searching for another one like it, I like how this one was made.
Absolutely correct on that one. SE has very little content anywhere unless added by mods which can be a mixed bag. Empyrion content is well thought out and works with the rest of the game. Play SE if you want an engineering sandbox.
Plenty of games that do one or two of things well but don't have the others. I'm not even looking for survival/building/crafting. Don't get me wrong I like survival mechanics and absolutely adore EGS building system (the implementation of Steam Workshop/player blueprints is GENIUS) but I would be ok with prebuilt ships and bases.
No Man's Sky = fun exploration (though nothing could likely come close to kind of game I'd like to see in this regard)
Elite Dangerous = great flight physics and graphics
Space Engineers = very technical building (what I have heard have not played it yet)
X4 Foundations = more about fleet management
Old school games like Freelancer/Freespace = fun combat
Hell I even tried Call of Duty Advanced Warfare (campaign) just to see how they handled flight combat (I actually liked it!)
Before anyone mentions Star Citizen, while I am very interested in the game and hope it turns out well I am not putting money into something so unpredictable. At least Eleon has given me my $20 worth and then some.
Empyrion is like jack of all trades and master of none. As much as I would love for every aspect to be as good as those other games fact of the matter is I keep coming back to EGS.
Empyion could very well be one of my favorite games of all time but who knows what the finished product will look like. For me I would like to see more POIs, more scenarios, more everything lol. Ultimately I would love if Eleon implements a good story campaign, some quests, NPC dialogue, and other RP type stuff. Theres some of that in the latest updates with the factions but it's too generic and bare at the moment.
I know it's an open sandbox but I don't see why you can't have both or at least some light handed guided motivations as an option besides clearing out POI after POI.
Another great game often overlooked by one dev, red51 is Rising World. Not space based but neither is 7 Days to Die.
There is a lot to like about Empyrion, most of my gripes about it are small. Great game but there's a lot to like about the others too. I wish they would all get together and make the end all of space survival games that has features, content and NPC's like Dying Light but all the voxel building they currently have.
1, Not on Steam.
2, Minimum is higher than my card: GTX 760 2GB
3, Appears to be mainly making a factory.
4. Not clear if it's even voxel based.
5. The creature they show fighting looks like they copied it from the Godillo in Plant Nomads: https://planetnomads.gamepedia.com/Godillo
A game where you can build a ship you can walk around in, fly to space, blow up enemy ships, land on another planet, take a tank that you also built that was docked on said ship, explore the entire planet in an open world sandbox, build a base there, find enemy bases and blow up their outer defenses, the raid it FPS style and take their stuff.
Better than subnautica brilliant !
Yes and it has ladders! And conveyor belts! And animated constructor machines ! And no Structural Integrity!
Yes Eleon I'm looking at you . . . .
But yes it is essentially (so far, its still Alpha) build a Big Factory on a gorgeous planet to feed the Space Elevator components.. But its so Satisfying, building this Factory . . . :)
Just a suggestion . . . . I got many hours out of it until I reached the reached the "This bit is not unlocked yet cos its still Alpha".
also try pulsar, you cant build things but its a good space crew game.

It ticks off all 3 I think.
A nearly infinite procedurally generated universe (the trailer states over 9 quadrillion galaxies), you start off as an astronaut with just enough resources to build a basic ship.
You have no set objectives. You could go mining an asteroid, or build a base on a planet. Since you can't have factories on your vessels, building a base is a must, but the game doesn't put too many restrictions on where you can build them.
You can build bases in space, on asteroids, planets, claim entire systems, and build a fleet of AI controlled ships of varying sizes. Once I wrapped my head around the AI block, I started making various turrets, and then I turned my main mining ship into a drone carrier/destroyer, complete with a foldout repair arm for heavier engagements.
The game has been in alpha for years, and I think the demo is still the full alpha. And every now and then, someone in the forums asks if the game is dead. :) Still a good game regardless. The last update was Feb 14th
It's voxel-based, and has a steep learning curve, but at least the logic systems kinda make sense.
It's very much minecraft in space, with pirates instead of zombies, and minus the hunger. You don't even have to worry about oxygen.
I think I've played Starmade more than Space Engineers. If I hadn't found Empyrion, I think I'd still be playing Starmade.
