Where is the best place to find gold?

Returned to play after leaving for awhile. Where do I find gold?

I never bothered paying attention to it before put now I need a T3 CPU and need to find some gold. Is it only in space?

it happens on planet also ,even on starter one sometimes there is 1 small deposit ,but its often bugged .

Any planet and sometimes moons with a high difficulty level. Green-fogged planets I find work best. Specific types will have surface ores, underground deposit sizes vary wildly.

In older versions it used to be plentiful, now it seems you can only mine it on exoplanets. Try raiding a few POI's, you might get lucky.

i've found most gold in the mountains but there's not many lge deposits

in SP your best bet is going to be to get the gold ingots from traders or even just buy the optronics you need, atm there is a major shortage of gold available in most default SP games making it unpractical to harvest/mine enough for the t3 plus ships
In MP on most servers there will be gold asteroids that may not be too hard to find, the galaxy map is your friend here, using the check boxes on top left you can mouse over and get what matts are on planet and in orbit both from it

Thank you for the replies. I only play SP and I never really built anything big but everything needs a T3 it seems. I never messed around with trading before my current game, all the Talon have is food. Is it limited? You said they have gold ingots is it a limited supply?

The Talon do have magnesium, but some of the Polaris traders have gold. Don't know about the Zirax, they hate me. The most I've seen for sale was 58 ingots, so yes limited but enough to work with. And you can always go back the next day.

Don't the Polaris give items you need to build the CPU extender cores. I mean the traders might have flux coils you can buy.. and other items.. plus the quest line you do I thought gives some rewards of the rare parts you need to make the CPU extenders.

I haven`t played in a bit. My thing is starting new games anyway. But, if one just takes some time clicking through planets, settings, all that, one can pretty much tailor make a starting arena. In the planet choices it has the list of resources. What and how much.

I got the Polaris friendly with me and found the gold with them. Pretty cheap too. The parts I needed were like 160,000 Don't have near that much yet. So traders stock resupplies everyday?

In SP its like xx hours ingame, in MP its every day at xx time (default servers, it may be server specific on other servers idk)

SP your probably better off exploring some, there will likely be a trader in every 2-3 systems you visit so you can buy from each every so often
you should be able to see the Trade station icon on your map as soon as you enter a new orbit

I recall seeing some surface gold rocks on the beach of snow planets.

Swamp planet start had quite a few surface gold rocks, as well as others.
