Transfer Ship with (!) contents into a new savegame in Alpha 11
Hi empyrion-friends,

I've looked through the forums for a way to transfer a ship with contents (stuff in cargo boxes) from one survival savegame in Alpha 11 to a new game in Alpha 12.

So far what I've found were some old posts about stuff that have might worked in an older version but didnt work for me, maybe I did something wrong? It said there was a file for my ship in the "Shared"-folder of my respective origin samegame-folder for the origin-ship and I should copy its contents to a folder in a ships folder in my new savegame.. but it didnt work for me, maybe not in the new game-version?

The other thing about transferring the ship without contents (standing in front of it, pressing ALT+O) gets me a blueprint of my ship but I cant seem to find a way of taking the contents with me this way..

Please, if you know a way to transfer a ship from a version 11-savegame to a new version 12-world please let me know!
Because with new versions every now and then I - for my unterstanding playing fair without cheating - would like to have a way of transferring the ship and stuff I worked for in a savegame into a new one.
And version brought the addition of multiple star systems which I want to try out.

Please help.

Type the following command into the console to turn your game into creative mode: cm
Now access the item menu with the H key (you might have to enable it with the itemmenu command first).
Give yourself an admin core from the item menu.
Replace the current core on your ship with the admin core.

Create a *NEW* blueprint of your ship, and when you save it make sure to check the "save damage states" checkbox.
Now when you start a new game, use the "sbp" and "godmode invisible" (if needed) commands to spawn your blueprint into the game, then replace the admin core with a standard player core and you should have all your items in the ship.

Note: I have not tested this so it might not work.

P.S. ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR SAVE GAME AND CREATE A NEW BLUEPRINT FILE TO TEST THIS. DOING THIS MAY CORRUPT YOUR CURRENT SAVE GAME (not your new one).

REALLY NOT SURE but i MEAN you can copy the save file of your ship over a new ship savefile with the same name.

Did someting like this 2 years ago, no idea if its still posssible and where you need to search for the files. All i remember was that i could copy a file stored inside the Savegame data of a ship in a new savegame with a equal named ship of the same type i saved

Maybe someone has a more concrete answer

Why don't you just download the update and try to play your old game on the new Alpha?

you do realize Alpha 12 is not even released yet right?
so im not surprised it didnt work :P

There used to be a way to transfer the area file(s) from 1 version to the next but i doubt that will work for the upcoming v12 since its a complete overhaul of the map which is what the area files are part of afaik but i never used it and dont know enough about the process to help

Not going to be a concern for at least a couple months. A12 isn't a thing yet.
You can blueprint your ship and rebuild it but I'ma go out on a limb and assume you'll need a fresh start with A12. If a new start isn't required, you should be able to simply load your old save.
If they disable loading old saves, it's probably for a reason and any workaround would be unofficial and may cause issues.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to make sure you have a backup save (2, just to be safe) AND do NOT overwrite your current ship blueprint, create a NEW blueprint file.

This is true no matter which method you use.

Thanks a lot, ravien_ff!
Your proposed solution did the trick!

And as others pointed out, of course Alpha 12 isn't out yet, I was under the false assumption of playing A12 when of course I play the current A11 and want to transfer stuff from a savegame of A10 :D dumb of me..

Anyway, thanks a lot for the help everybody!
