I want to like this game, but dinosaurs in space?
Im sorry but after owning this game for well over a year now, I can't wrap my head around landing on a planet to find earth dinosaurs trodding around like they just so happened to have evolved there looking exactly like dinosaurs evolved on earth. Are we supposed to just push the "I believe" button on this, or... is this just a level of acceptence one has when one becomes a fanboi?

It's more than immersian breaking, it's hokey enough to not even want to play the game.

Just my 2 cents, you can save the angry retort for someone who cares. I won't be changing my opinion on this. Raptors and Trikes in space....

I think the dino's are placeholders for more alien species while the devs clear up the rest of the game, like planet creation, terrain rendering, Xenos AI and such, it should be easy later to model a alien herbivore and carnivore laters, some are already alien enough.

not angry, but i simply ask:

is this really the most outlandish thing youve seen in a science fiction game?

Aliens: No Problem

Otyughs: No Problem

Dinosaurs: AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

Why can the developers MAKE UP aliens and otyughs but dinosaurs, which by the way we know can evolve on planets, require some suspension of disblief?

You have mental issues.

Personally, I'd be just as shocked to see recognizable dinosours on a planet other than Earth as I would o hear the people planning on heading to Mars in a few years reporting back after they land, that they were greated by humans not born on Earth.

I thought most of the species on planets were from the included art that comes with the engine and they were going to do new models once the framwork and features were locked and done..

Seriously, similar plant life, oxygen, water, gravity. WHY NOT DINOSAURS?!?!?! Has someone here been to some real earth-like planets? Do we have some statistics that dinosaur-like creatures are extremely rare on those planets in our universe? WE DON'T KNOW. Even if we did, this game doesn't claim to be scientifically accurate, LITERALLY ANYWHERE.

So please... let devs create their own universe. Populate with whatever creatures they feel like is appropriate at the time. If they want to add more different creatures, let them do it when time allows. If they want to fill every nook and cranny with dinosaurs and NOTHING BUT dinosaurs.... it's their universe.... they are creating it.

Now that that's out of the way. Perhaps next step for OP is to go to various Star Trek/Star Wars/BattleStar Galactica/Mavel Comic/DC Comic/Firefly and whatever other related forums and complain about how most aliens in their universe are humanoid..... and how much that ruins his delicate flower immersion.

Star trek actually has a reason for that.

Really this game could have the same reason.

You know what the reason is?

you do understand that other planets will have varing levels of intelligent life?
whats so hard to believe about another planet only just now experiencing its own Jurassic period?

There are store-bought assets all throughout this game. My years-running assumption is that most (and hopefully all) of it will eventually get replaced by original content. This includes the ridiculous dinosaurs.

It's alpha, man. I get tired of that excuse sometimes, but it applies here.

The developers have made up very little. Those aliens, bugs, otyughs and dinosaurs are store-bought assets, most of which haven't even be retextured AFAIK. They're [hopefully] placeholders, but finding dead ringers for earth life on exoplanets in the Andromeda Galaxy is hilariously bad without some narrative explanation. Wondering about it certainly doesn't strike me as cause to go insulting people, even if the OP is slightly :steamsalty:.

Lol, and here I am wishing there's more dinos. Just waiting for a T-Rex to pop out or a giant flying dino.
Damien Aug 12, 2018 @ 4:43am
In a universe of infinity and billions of solar systems their will definitely be other planets the same as ours, so its quite likely that dinosaurs exist or have existed on other planets. Its not the game's fault you're so narrow minded.......
Love how you are trying to sound intelligent when really your statement shows how moronic you are.....

Nothing in the standard model of cosmology suggests an infinite universe, and I doubt you and I are in a position to make definitive statements about what we'd find in one. I also can't calculate the odds of velociraptor and triceratops look-alikes evolving in the Andromeda Galaxy, but neither can I fault anybody who finds that weird or lazy.

That said, it seems the OP wasn't aware these Empyrion dinos are placeholders. "The dinos are placeholders," probably works better than, "You're a narrow-minded moron." Just sayin'.
why not
