Local Co-op server won't Start
I just got on Empyrion with my friend and i tried to start up a local co-op server, normally i would be asked for admin permission by the game to start it up, but for some reason i no longer get that and whenever i try to start up it redirects me to the main menu after ~10 seconds.

Easy fix, if you got windows 10, and if your windows defender has picked up "empyriondedicated.exe" as a trojan, start up windows defender, and restore the file picked up as a trojan, should work as normal now.

Guys keep in mind to run a Co-op game you are basically running a server. That said your PC specs including internet need to be up to the task. THis means you need more RAM than if you are just playing the game as there is a lot more for your PC to do. Then you need a CPU that is fast and strong enough to work the calculations. Your drive needs to be able to also keep up SSD likely best thing to do. Finally and unlikely your current issue your internet speed has to have the upload speeds to keep up with the game. Everytime the guy playing with you moves that info has to be uploaded to your PC if you upload is slow that will not happen well.

If the OP does not post what fixed it start a new thread post the specs for the PC you are trying to use and more detail on what is happening. I am someone will be able to help you get going. I have never messed with co op but that is because I have a server box. They run almost the same. Infact the server runs with mostly the exact same files as the SP player does.

I got a decent PC for the task, 16GB RAM and an i7-7700

I'm sorry, this does not help. We have not changed anything and have been using co-op every day. Suddenly it doesn't work anymore.
If there is an adjustment that needs to happen in Windows Defender, could you explain it for a layman to understand?

He did explain it pretty well, but basically he's saying your coop might not be working because a file needed to launch it may have been misidentified by an antivirus program. Verifying your files should replace the missing file, but unless you tell your antivirus program to stop removing the file in the antivirus program (usually in the settings as an exception), it probably will again.
