i get endless hours of enjoyment doing that and making sure any ship we use is the best it can be for our needs.
so just take something you like the look of and make it your own.
Step 2: Become inspired by their designs
Step 3: Go into creative
Step 4: Build something
Back in 2012, some of the best designs in Starmade were simply cubes, or gloridied flying boxes. There were a number of vids, but this is the first one I've found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxsEc5q5RQM
One of main drawcards in making an ugly mother of a ship is to hide vital components from enemy fire. I haven't played the new update yet, with the popup turrets, but in previous builds I've used ramps & roller doors to act as shields over weapons & turrets.
I still can't make pretty ships, and I'm most proud of the the ugliest ones
I still don't build anything good looking or what one would want to copy and use, but I sure am better than I was 3 years ago, lol, go get a few BP of things you want to use or parts of, then place them in creative and take them apart slow and easy to see how they go together and where they are in the materials list/groups and you'll get the hang or ways to make the parts fit or together which is the hardest part, IMHO, start slow and make just simple/easy builds and then add more integrate shapes and designs as your learning/growing, nothing is ever done in a day or hour, times is the only factor and how you learn patience to do so,
you loved the game in v7 but dont like it since v8, thats fine its your opinion and right to do so
but v8 hasnt changed the ship or base building enough to warrent that change of heart
as suggested you can rebuild workshop bp's to your liking if your worried about building 'pretty ships' but as you have been playing since v7 or earlier i have to assume you knew that already
i am sorry that you dont like the new updates, i like most of them but not all myself
its still a good game for me, but if you dont wish to play anymore ...
dont, thats a choice you must make for yourself
you do know you can still play v6 and/or v7 from the experimental tab right?
if not, you can, they keep both of these older versions available just for people like yourself that either dont want the new updates or dont want to lose the saves they had/have
