Heh mine usually starts as a box, then gets the edges redone, then some extensions and rework. Its always a work in progress ship :steamhappy:

Embrace your inner brick

Too funny, ... you have the essentials, ... so, IDK. I like the humor though. I've submitted stuff to the WS, but they are never very popular. While I have built a compact (no planters) CV that can carry the HV and SV, I've never published it.

The CV starts out as 3 or 4 "bricks" tied together, then I add design elements to it using almost every block shape. Since it is meant to cruise around in space, it can be anything you want, even that big smiley face ship from Heavy Metal, ... can you make a Borg Cube?

Same here I'm at a loss to understand how people manage to get the sleek shapes I see in the warehouse when every block has a square boundary although they have added the 45 degree rotation option that doesn't seem to help me at all.
To my mind this is a space game where HV's, SV's and CV's are all subject to attack and therefore would be designed primarily for battle functionality in their layout, no wasted space well armed well protected with backup systems in event of damage, such as several alternative cockpits.
I tend to favour small and compact although I do have one large CV that now needs updating to version 8.
I find the large CV somewhat irritating because I have to traverse several different areas to reach various facilities and usually end up just using the 'P' key to access stuff that is not in the area I currently occupy.
It almost seemed pointless my spending hours building a large CV then just standing in the HV and SV transport bay at the rear to access the refridgerators and food processors in another area.
I would post some pics but for some reason even though following a post guide to set steam up to get postable pics pressing F12 or any other F key will not take a steam pic perhaps I'm still doing something wrong.

TO make screenshots you need to have a active overlay -> start game with steam, not the exe

and to post a screenshot
(edit: was wrong pic)

Sadly after a few minutes of testplay i found some issues that make a fix harder than a new start
(as example no lift to the roof, and a rdiating block that hit the player on the ramp)

So my monitor this moment

And donny you are right.
In a PVE game my choosen ship is these

But i want a PVP able ship with 4 constrctors and 4x9 Plots Garden, thats what i try to get now
(Even if 100 Energy Cells per minute is a bit much fuel consume for my taste)

But yes i know, Warships should be Warships, by adding a hangar and 4 Constrcutors i make it larger than needed and add weak points

Min-Maxing a brick. And then when you sit inside one you feel so... empty.
