Version mismatch
I couldn't connect to my server today so I updated it and now its saying I have a version mismatch
My server is 8.1.0 but my client is only 8.0.2
There is no client update for me through steam so whats going on??
I've tried updating the server via beta and public but I cant get a match.
Any assistance would be great

there is no 8.1.0 version so something is wrong there to start with
the experimentqal version is 8.0.1 (i think)
the normal branch is 8.0.2
my guess is your server is still on the experimental branch
be sure to restart both server and client after updating

Your server is on the experimental branch if it's on 8.1.0. Your client needs to be set to the experimental branch too.

I tried going into the beta branch for client side but it wont drop down and let me select any beta builds..
The pop up when trying to connect to server is deffinately saying server is 8,1,0
Im updating and launching the server with the same shortcuts I have always used.. so no idea why its suddenly changed things.

in the server list my server is showing up as 8.1.0 but without the experimental tag.. wtf????

ok I've managed to change my client to the test branch and I can connect..
How do I revert my server back to stable release.
The normal way I update it using
+app_update 530870
doesn't seem to be working.

Server settings don't change unless you make said changes. What did you do?
I just ran the update batch file like I always have.
Each time I run it.. it seems to reset my .yalm
Which is no biggy.. its just server name, password and EAC off that I change.
But today.. it seems to have updated the server to experimental and now I cant revert.
Not only that.. I just logged in and Im a fresh start.. so I've lost everything it seems.

I always keep a backup of my .yaml file because of this. For some reason, updating the game overwrites my file. The server files for my game are still there, it just needs the yaml file to be redone.

yeah I used to keep a backup but its only 3 small things I need to change when there is an update so I didn't worrry about keeping backups.

The issue I am having now isn't related to the yalm though.. nothing has changed in the yalm

When you check the save folder, are the server files still there? When my yaml file is overwritten, it causes me to load a new game. Unitl you restore the file, it will continue.

ok, seem to have it sorted.
Had to delete the appmanifest file from the server install directory, then update it again via steamcmd.
It checked and updated the files properly.
Back to 8.0.2
Everything restored.
Still doesn't explain what caused this but hey... its sorted!
Cheers for trying to nut this out with me guys!

Shouldn't you be changing the name of the default yaml file and telling it to look for that new file name, that way it isn't overwritten by an update?
Aldo Jun 20, 2018 @ 5:20am
I can, but as there is really only 3 bits that I change when there is an update.. I dont bother forcing custom yalm.
Mainly just incase something new is added into the default yalm and I miss it.
