Autominers set not to deplete, are depleting resources

Having an issue on our MP server, the server is set that Autominers do not deplete a resource they are placed upon. However we have found that every type of deposit which forms as individual ore in the ground, as opposed to the veins which are just one deposit, are being drained. This effects, Pentaxid, Magnesium, Promethium, Sathium, Silicon (veins are unaffected), Erestrum and Zascosium deposits.

Is this a new game mechanic that only veins are undepletable, or is it a bug, whether known or not?

This issue is effecting all deposits of the types above which are rocks in the ground, it is the same on all planets on our server, not restricted to certain planets

Is it a rented server or a personal server?

Playing a server where Promethuim is not depleting from automining, haven't had S chance to try other veins.

Does it matter. A bug is a bug whether you own the server or rent it. As is intended game play mechanics

Someone playing on a rented server may not know or have the correct settings defined. Is the admin familiar with how to set the server up, or new to it?

Because there is possible issue with at least one of the rented server services not updating server settings to the defined parameters and only using default settings. The Devs can't fix this. A better indication that the problem isn't just you though:

However, IF the server you are using, is one of these which ignores human settings and reverts to default settings regardless, how does that explain that Autominers are NOT depleting veins but ARE depleting deposits which form as individual rocks in the ground ?

Because IF default Autominer settings are to deplete resources, they would DEPLETE EVERYTHING they are put on vein or rock without any discrimination.

The facts that I have already said, that WE are having this issue on a MP server, and Hanni has said he is having this issue on Single Player should indicate this isn't an issue with a rented server provider, and that it is either an ingame mechanic the Devs have not entirely released, or it is a bug.

At this point though I would have expected tens of the usual trolls on these forums to have come up with suggestions it is an actual ingame mechanic...this post has been up long enough for them to make their usual comments, unless of course I have managed to block them all and I am just not seeing their posts.... I can fantasize right?

prior to this new update i had auto-miners set to deplete on single-player - nothing depleted except promethium - so a bug somewhere creating a random result?
haven't made it to auto-miners since starting over with 8.2.2 so hopefully...

It's a known bug. Nothing you can do except wait for a fix.
