Problem Mining Neodymium
I'm playing SP experimental 8 using default random planets Robinson Protocol on medium difficulty and am having the following problem.

I recently travelled to a nearby planet called Drume (seed 25780) looking for Neodymium ore which fortunately I found there.

I followed screen display showing the exact above ground location of the Neodymium and drilled down through a large silicone layer and got within just over a meter from the display then it disappeared and reappeared in another location of the excavation about 2-3 meters away either horizontally or above me it just kept jumping about.
Despite ending up with a massive ever widening and deepening area of excavation I found no trace of Neodymium ore.
I tried running file verification starting an earlier save before I even left my home planet but just got the same results.

Using the console I gave myself and auto miner placed it over the ore location and it instantly started mining Neodymium ore.
This gives me a major problem I'm using an SV with a warp drive and this planet is the only one in reach that has Neodymium ore. I have auto miner cores but not the flux coils or Neodymium to make flux coils.

Raiding and attacking bases, drones etc. is an option but so far, the spoils of war have been very sparse in the Neodymium and flux coil departments.

So, I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a fix other than just giving myself an auto miner.

If you are drilling through a silicon layer you are running on an old version of 8. You need to update to the latest build. And Yes you should restart a new game.

as Blaze said for Phase 4 the devs have advized starting a new game so if you havent ....

but i also have a 'ghost' ore node with a new start, mine is promethium on the starter planet and is still there - i have a huge cavern with the "100%" ore tag floating in mid air :D
if your too far along or if you did start new already you could just ignore that 1 node and find another

I started a new game about a week after 8 became live 8 I'm updated up to 2 days ago If devs recenrtly recommended another new start I must have missed that

I did see this - Please start a new save game in EXP 4 since we changed the naming of some yaml parameters (you can load old save games but the terrain might have changed)- I just started an old save progressed a few minutes than made a new save as I assumed they meant that and not a full restart as usually they are specific if a complete new start is required.

Do you have an ore detector in your inventory? Some ores still use the SSOR system.

Do a full restart of a new game - do nto delete your old game. If you still have a silicon layer on the new game I cna't help you any further. But if you do not have a silicon layer you have to say goodbye to the old save.

As I started using the proceedural option I suppose I will get something completly different doing the same again though perhaps using the same seed might work however, I will just import what I had into the new game using the consol I don't yet have enough stuff to make doing that a major project.

Running the experimental branch you should play the game knowing you will have to restart a new game often. Hope you get it working have a great day.
EzRyder May 16, 2018 @ 12:14pm
you should have started a new game in the last 4 days

Update May 12, 2018: Hotfix (Build 1623)

Important:
- Please start a new save game in EXP 4 since we changed the naming of some yaml parameters (you can load old save games but the terrain might have changed)

You have to start a new game after the last 8 update a couple of days ago.

If your computewr is randomly shutting down that is a problem with your computer, not the game. Your powersupply is starting to fail most likely. No game can cause that to happen.

I love how people with faulty computers always come into game forums and claim that "lots of people" are having the same issue.

Why are you reviving an old thread with completely off topic posts?
This has nothing to do with pcs shutting down
