How to find Cobalt

From what I've read, the only play to currently find cobalt is on moons or asteroids.

The problem with this is that you need cobalt to build the driller and any of the space vessels to actually get to and be able to mine from asteroids or moons

What am I missing? How do you find cobalt on a starter planet? We've uncovered like half this starter planet, and zero cobalt to be found anywhere. How?

There are cobalt surface rocks in Radiated areas. You can also sometimes find cobalt ingots in POIs. The cobalt surface rocks are a dark blue and seem to be rather uncommon, but they are there. Radiated areas can be quite hazerdous, though. So be careful.

There are cobalt rocks in the radiated zones.

Golems often drop cobalt ore.

You can build an SV without cobalt and you'll be able to fly to the moon. IIRC the tier 1 SV prefabs don't need cobalt.

The survival drill can mine asteroids or deposits on the moon. You can also launch your drone from inside your ship (if it has a sealed internal room) and use it to mine.

This is EXACTLY what I do.

Just finished a new low level SV for this very purpose.

True, but when you want just a little cobalt to build a drill the easiest thing to do is just get it from surface rocks in radiated areas.
