If you have a SV you can get promethium on the moon, probably. Once you have promethium your O2 farm works fine.
If you cant get promethium then you will have to leave...hopefully the nearby planets are better suited to survival.
The moon was too far for me, there had to be resources on the planet. And there were.
Took a flight north to south, the "biomes" were rocks, rocks, mountains and rocks. I did find the odd promethium rock on the surface. Highly radioactive. Rare commodities now are iron, copper and Silicon.
Eventually i turned northwest to do some sightseeing, ran into a prometheum deposit (yay!) planted an auto miner on it. Headed back home to sleep, ran into 3 more promethium deposits, planted my last miner on one of them.
Decided to take out a missile turret (no bases or even faction areas on the surface and no plants, trees or life - at least i don't have to worry about raptors).
Got a SV warpdrive from the turret for some reason. With the turret gone, i planted two new auto miners and i finally got what i came for: Zarcosium and Erestrium.
I did scale up oxygen/water production to over 10 now that i have an energy source and also oxygenated the base.
