Water and metal planets
So i took my CV on a curiosity drive over a planet i haven't visited. Naturally i went into the atmosphere and got blow to bits... and this after i left an "ultimate" level planet where i cleaned out Zrax like nothing.

Fortunately the CV carcass near an enemy base was well stocked, though it's a bit risky going there and fetching stuff all the time. Got a new base up from scavenged amenities and the SV(s) are slowly being relocated from the bottom of a valley to the new underground base.

Adding to that, i haven't found any promethium - yet (haven't looked that much and the time is 4:29 right now and 'm beyond tired). I could probably make an SV warpdrive and go fetch stuff i need to rebuild the CV - or i could stay.

The main factor that makes me want to leave is - water. There isn't a single lake or anything on the planet (i can see the map since i came in from space). Fortunately, i prepared for such an eventuality (1 is none and 5 is... better) and got the O2/Water-thing that collects it from the air, but they are slow (even 5 of them), and they are using up too much energy vs how much resources it collects i comparison to a dedicated water collector.

Yes, i could cheat, but i only use the console commands to fix bugs, so that is not for me.

Anyone got experience with making oxygen on this kind of planet? I haven't seen it before so it's new to me.

The Barren Metal planet? I think you'll have to start a solar powered fiber farm to get biofuel to power your condensers so you can get oxygen. :D Might be faster to just repair your CV enough to fly.

If there is a promethium resource node it will be listed on the right in the map view. If there is, then that is what you need to survive. Check the different biomes. Go north and south to maximize biome varieties you can scavenge. Look for promethium in mountains. It is often found as crystals growing out of the ground.

If you have a SV you can get promethium on the moon, probably. Once you have promethium your O2 farm works fine.

If you cant get promethium then you will have to leave...hopefully the nearby planets are better suited to survival.

Thanks for the tips, here is what i did:

The moon was too far for me, there had to be resources on the planet. And there were.

Took a flight north to south, the "biomes" were rocks, rocks, mountains and rocks. I did find the odd promethium rock on the surface. Highly radioactive. Rare commodities now are iron, copper and Silicon.

Eventually i turned northwest to do some sightseeing, ran into a prometheum deposit (yay!) planted an auto miner on it. Headed back home to sleep, ran into 3 more promethium deposits, planted my last miner on one of them.

Decided to take out a missile turret (no bases or even faction areas on the surface and no plants, trees or life - at least i don't have to worry about raptors).

Got a SV warpdrive from the turret for some reason. With the turret gone, i planted two new auto miners and i finally got what i came for: Zarcosium and Erestrium.

I did scale up oxygen/water production to over 10 now that i have an energy source and also oxygenated the base.
