Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Player Spawner (Thin Plate)
This takes 10 power and at the very beginning I'd like to delete it but cannot. Not can I switch it off.

Any ideas on how to get rid?

Salvage setting on your survival tool. Take down any antennas on the roof as well.

Can't salvage what is completely invisible to the player. We've been over this before. The only ways to remove it:
1. (with SI enabled) remove the block underneath it;
2. attack the underlying block with an explosive charge or plasma rifle, if you don't mind the collateral damage;
3. from the console, use the replaceblocks command to replace that block type with another block type - any type - that the player can see and salvage.

The last is my own addition; I've never heard anyone else suggest it. Still, it sucks that such a thing was ever added to the game without specific conditions to ensure players can remove them when they have ownership of a structure, or even when it becomes core-less or public. They should never remain or remain invisible when a player has control of the structure.

You can get a waypoint marker for the plate from the control panel. I've done it plenty of times.

I marked it to see where it was and it is labelled in mid-air, invisible and doesn't register on my survival tool.

I have been able to label it and delete it before but sometimes this occurs.

Marking its location is just the first step, not an entire solution. It still can't be removed until one of the three choices I outlined is used. I didn't mention it because it's a given that you can't use (1) or (2) without first knowing where it is.

@VulcanTourist: Thx - I had opportunity to try your suggestion because none of the other options for salvaging the invisible block worked. The command is:
replaceblocks <ID> PlayerSpawnerPlateThin ConcreteFull

sadly, salvaging the block didn't get rid of the spawner

Same problem here extended a starter POI to a fully operational base with a network of underground tunnels but couldn't remove its original spawn plate.

I only play SP

I know exactly where the spawn plate is firstly because it prevented me placing a block in that area and secondly, because I saved a blueprint copy of my final base and when I spawned the copy in creative the spawn plate was fully visible and could be removed.
You can view its location in survival and mark it by enabling the HUD menu but it will still be invisible.

I find it intensely annoying that my base in survival is missing a block because I can't remove the spawn plate

I decided to try the following the next time I select a wreckage starter base that has a spawn plate.

I will replace the core then save the base and re-spawn it in creative then remove the spawn plate and re-save / overwrite the blueprint.

Next I will return to survival and destroy the original base there and replace it with the new blueprint base it may involve using the console to get a few advanced items to do that but once the no spawn plate version is in place any salvaged materials and advanced equipment can be disposed of so that I start the game as intended only without a spawn plate.

It always worked when I used that approach. I don't know how you could gum it up, since the command you used looks correct enough. If you visually saw the replacement block appear, that should have been the end of it. If you had turned on the display of its location in the Devices tab of the Control Panel, though, the game might glitch because of the replaceblocks command and continue displaying the marker even though the block is no longer there. When you next restart the game it might be gone... or not, but in any case you should be able to place another block in the space that it occupied, marker or not.

I'm going to spend a few minutes right now investigating whether there's a modding solution to this....

Perhaps try this? I make no promises, it's just a first guess (and I'm not playing so can't play-test it):
{ Block Id: 1385, Name: PlayerSpawnerPlateThin, Ref: PlayerSpawner BlockColor: "110,110,110" Material: metallight EnergyIn: 0, type: int, display: true, formatter: Watt IsAccessible: true, type: bool BlastRadius: 1 BlastDamage: 10 }
This does several things to try to make it removable, but it also reduces its energy consumption to zero, so that even if you still can't remove it then at least you won't be continually penalized by 10 Watts for having it lodged in your little base. 10 Watts might be trivial later on, but in a starter base where you just want the Capacitor to charge that same 10 Watts is huge.

Hey VT - you were again correct "f you had turned on the display of its location in the Devices tab of the Control Panel, though, the game might glitch because of the replaceblocks command and continue displaying the marker even though the block is no longer there."
After a restart, the block is gone. I presume, though, that it was gone already as expected, but since I had the Display in HUD set, there was a ghost artifact, even though the block itself was already gone.

I don't mind being wrong today and less wrong tomorrow, but I mind even less avoiding the rollercoaster entirely. :-)

Forget I made any mention of modding the game. I doubt it would have worked anyway.

I've been able to get them with a multi tool by zapping them from below. It is invisible, so you gotta check the control panel to see if you got it.

I tried this idea and it worked fine

**I decided to try the following the next time I select a wreckage starter base that has a spawn plate.

A bit convoluted but it did work

1 Check if your base has a spawn plate if yes make a blueprint of it
2 Go into creative and spawn the blueprint take out the blue figure and the block it is on using
a multi tool replace the block that you removed with a regular block and overwrite the blueprint
3 if your new blueprint is red it may have storage cupboards or a grow plot with a planter that is incompatible, remove them and overwrite the blueprint.
4 Go back to survival and remove the old base using the console command or the multi tool
5 Spawn the new base blueprint in approximately the same place using the console command

NOTE
I did replace the faction core with a player core whilst I was in creative that action may not have been needed at that point.
