Agree with you both, makes no sense at all, total waste of time.
Yep, find a Zirax region that has a weak POI, just approach carefully in an HV or SV, look for Zirax ground troops though, they might be guarding.
EDIT: I just went and tested this. Started a brand new game, spawned in an SV and went hunting. I was getting +25 Polaris reputation with each Zirax kill, and +75 with the Talon per Zirax kill. Farming Zirax ground troops is the quickest and easiest way to gain rep with Polaris that I've found.
Spiders require a very low hover height to hit 'em with the chipper. It still beats wasting ammo.
^That^ I did not know, thanks for the share. In the early game and through a few of the premade scenarios, it helps to have the major factions not be "shoot on sight" angry with you.
