Another POI thread [Spoiler Alert]
Notice, this thread contains spoilers.
If you do not want to know the core locations for the 5.0 POIs and the classic ones do not continue.
To locate the core in a POI, you can either wait for your turret to fire in the right direction... or learn a few console commands, or just search the good old hard way. I prefer the hard way, but sometimes it gets really frustrating, so I'm going to start out with the most useful POIs from 4.X .

Yes there are a hundred PIO spoiler threads, but I have decided to try create a canonical thread now that we have a whole bunch of new ones in 5.0. Spoiler is a relative term. When you are in a hurry, or night is falling as you enter the MP server your bestie invited you to and unexpectedly find she just crashed her computer and cannot join and now you hear a screeching noise. What do you do? Log out and wait for Sarah to join, or start digging? That and because I have a memory like a sieve posting some screenshot will help me remember too, so unless we have something along these lines to add, can it. Without further missdirection, lets start.

Titan (back part)
The 3 titan cores, only 1 will be above ground consistently, so we will start there.

From inside it is right at the entrance

Titan (mid part)
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=822669673
Normally deep underground in between 4 pillars, it will be closer to the end with the staircases
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=822669637
Titan (front part)
Not far below Ground, jsut otherside the pillar in the centre there
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=822669804
Found it, not too deep.

Village (Akua)
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=822669523
This one has a hostile spawner, the Core is below the stone pictured, to the right a little.

Drone Base
This one is actually almost all underground as you can see from this mining required.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827161895
If you do decide to approach from underground aim for the plasma cannon on left shown here. It must be the one as marked by the illuminated access hatch block
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827161962
You need to get to the lowest level and find it behind the purple container

Admin Trade Centre
This building is invulnerable - but all doors will open to players. You need to be an administrator if you want to take control of the building

As usual the base of the tallest tower

Akua Village (stone busts)
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827161827
Variation on the snake head village, this time 2 stone heads, the temple on the left as you enter. It is down and to the right of the demonic looking bust.

Large Outpost
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=830021401
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=830021440
Once again, the tallest tower houses the core at it's base, clear as day when you look down.

MS Titan (moon)
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827191562
This POI I repeatedly failed to find the core of, even though looking in the right place many times. All ship wreck cores are along the centre of the ship, which I was not taking as a given on my first digs of this wreck. I initially though it would be some-place else and hidden, but the engine room, in the centre, forward in the hull is the place. It's pretty deeply buried as you can see.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827191588
My pro-tip for this POI is to visit it in an VH or SV with good automatic turrets to defend the wreck while you dig.
Crashed Ship (moon) Empyrion
A Rare find on a moon, the Empyrion is just tonnes of looting because of it's sheer size.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=840163513
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=840163557
A downside to the size it that much of it will be buried, so here is a shot of her partly raised.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=840163638
Core is in the large bulb shaped mid section. Which will normally place it just above ground. Shown here with no ground, but in many spawns appears just aboveground.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=840163594
Nice job!

Here's another set of pro-tips for you.

Carry a core with you. Plug it in once you've destroyed the alien core. Hit 'P' and it will inumerate all 'normal' types of things on the ship (cargo containers, etc.). From that window, you can loot all the cargo containers.

NOTE: This does not show 'alien' cargo containers, only normal player style ones and POI 'white' containers but you don't have to dig for those loot containers, simply open them from the control window and loot away.

NOTE 2: Digging for salvaging can be very worth while, especially with the 3 titan wreck pieces. Those thrusters require advanced CPU's and coils, which are returned to you as salvage. The moon Titan wreck also does not contain any 'alien' containers so you can, again, loot the thing via this core trick, without hunting around for the containers.

Once you are done, simply melt the core and you'll either get that core back or all the materials to make a replacement.
What about reaserch Station Alpha?
It is under the power storage unit. Dig underneath
Research Station Alpha
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=835370808
The core is under the fuel tank behind the terminal, in the building marked Power System Storage.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=835365380
Just remove the block under the terminal to access it.

Thanks. Will add this one tonight.

Been too busy messing with planet and sector customising tank files. I also need to add all of the X bases on Omicron soon I guess. The abandoned mine is probably needed soon if I am to stay ahead. Hard to find core in abandoned mine if you do not know it is actually marked out in red.
Rados Missile Silo
I suggest going in underground.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=836322908
It's two "levels" of spawners and more spawners if you go through front door or manage to use the landing pad access assuming it's still intact when you get near enough.

The core is in a huge open basement room with a rare red Alien container. If you do decide to blast through the outer wall, attack the middle of any wall once you find the lower edge of the base, to avoid the alien containers in the corners. This base will drop an Epic, it has a Rare Red Alien container. The whole basement is one area.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=836322387
Disabling the core will stop the spawners from bringing in too many more troops
Rados Oxygen Depot MK1
Sporting a collection of O2 tanks on top, this is a maze.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=836323780
If you enter at ground level, take 2 demolition packs.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=836323252
As pictured above: Just turn left after the door breaches, blow that one and the core will be there with no turrets to deal with, just some heavies.
If you came in from above, there is a lot more opposition. Digging + blasting your way in is an option, but the base has a wall cavity. Core is below the landing pad.
No Rare Red alien containers.
Anyone find the core in the Crashed Hyperion on the moon ? That ship is HUGE it will take forever to hunt it down.

Have you tried letting your turrets spot it for you, by watching where they fire? You can move your vehicle around a little and get a really good triangulation on it from the turrets firing at it.
I still need to do some experimenting with this, but I have had instances where the homing missile will auto-target an alien core. I had to destroy the turrets first, but the missile then locked onto something.. which I couldnt see at the time .. and each subsequent missile hit the structure at a certain point. After several missiles, the structure went dark... it hit the core.

Updated now, scroll up for Crashed ship Hyperion.

Large Residential Complex
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827188344
As on Masperon, this complex has the outside elevators which link the landing pads, but on the way up are some walkways to the storage containers with the cool loot.
Once again, the tallest tower houses the core at it's base, just amble along the suspended walkway and open the sliding door artfully almost "concealed". Shoot out the floor of the elevator shaft.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827188385
What even the point of this thread ? These don't randomly respawn so on multiplayer, unless you are first on a server at wipe there is nothing left accept a few blocks!
If you will only ever play one game, sure. I have played at least ten different playthroughs, usually as larger patches are released so this thread can help me find the cores that I don't recall the locations of.
