Most just take an idea and build and see what comes out or they plan it out on Graph Paper like we used to do for ASCII Images and Graphics
What are you trying to make? I'm really good at pixel art maybe I can give it a go.
I think this would be a bad idea, i mean there are some seriously good builders out there, but for them to be swamped with automoated ship blueprints would suck, and take away there skills and legitness for ship building
I remember years ago when i ran a minecraft server, we had a couple of great builders, or so i thought, turns out they used a program where it would just lay out layer by layer and you copy it, no skill involved, just mindless copying
You get to test out the design before wasting any resources.
The symmetry function also halves the time it takes to construct the hull.
You do have to be a little careful with heat/radiation generating devices though as these won't be so obviously deadly in creative but could make your ship uninhabitable in survival.
Of course the build time of a really large blue print can be quite tedious, my CV is over 17 hours, it took much less time than that to design it in creative.
There are some really good ship building tuts on youtube, maybe have a look at those and see where it heads
I always say get an idea, then sketch out the X,Y,Z plans, then buiild those using the trusses and go from there,
It can be dawnting looking at the whole ship at once, so work in sections, try going small first and work up to big ones, but remember, what ever size you build, you gotta fill it, and that can take longer than building the ship
This program will help if you are build curves, circles etc, gives you a head start, once you learn the basics of these it can help in other areas, so worth learning about them
