if ure on the move and going west or east (depend from time) its possible u just "chasing night" and its cause you always see night hehe ,i think night/day are equal ,just planets are so small so you easily can chase sun driving sv ie :)

i would like a option to change times of daylight like have it for 30 min or always day , seems a waste deves made a nice looking game you cant even have time to see it....always dark....

an option like ark where you can tweak lengt of day and difference in lengt between day and night would be great. Lets say you want the daycycle 4 times longer you put in x4. Lets say you want day time twiced long as night put in factor x2 or night x 0.5 something in that order

well as it is for now is more realistic and i prefer that tbh than different lenghts ,you have nightvision goggles and lights to see at nights so i think "we cant see nothing" is a bit exxagerated ;) earlier our shoulderlight was giving alot less light and we got no goggles so its alot better now .

if you play SP you can use the console command time ***** the * is seconds. like: time 50000
its a bit trial and error depending on where on the planet you are.
there also are a command that stops time, but cant remember that one now.

You could probably have a command that would extend daytime cycle of each planet by 30 minutes. But do keep in mind that day time will probably be different on another planet?

I think in Empyrion the sun is actually, physically moving around the sky when you're on the planet. That means it's possible, if you're travelling west, to stay in perpetual sunlight. And it's possible to stay in perpetual night if you're travelling the other way.

(I don't think they make the sun stationary and have the planet spin, but I guess anything is possible.)

But really the point is that they'd need to change an awful lot to make the days longer. They could slow down the sun, but that would make the nights longer too. Maybe they could make the sun move slower if it happens to be shining on the player?

You could try to do some work in space or inside your lit base. Using portable lights as well. Other than that just follow the sun.

Whould love to have the option to ajust day/night as well. Just remember one thing. The longer the day, the longer the night.

There will be planets with off-axis rotations in the future, but that is likely a long way off. I believe the whole 'round spinning planet' thing requires a total rework of the game engine, and that is still a ways down the road a bit. We should see larger maps, different sized planets, elimination of the poles, and elimination of the 'time line' at the same time I am guessing. But for now, the map is actually rectangular map stretched around a round globe, and you 'warp' from one end to the other. The sun does in fact travel from one end to the other, perspective wise. The only way I know of to lengthen the day cycle would be to alter the speed of the sun (or sky texture?) itself to a sinusoidal pattern, and you would shorten teh day on the opposite side of the planet correspondingly.

7D2D also has this...would be a nice option for this game.

Might get adjustable time when the planet sizes are adressed, just a guess but makes sense to me.

Its very simple to change the movement of the point light in unity. I programme in unity, with script and have done this very thing for sun movment over a planet for day and night cycles with a longer day than hours, and into the routine is seasons so sometimes day is shorter.
To put it short it would be a piece of **** for devs to do.
Winterfalke May 12, 2017 @ 12:06pm
I already mentioned that we can expect off axis planet rotations coming in future patches, that does indeed give different length day/night cycles. And it may be a trivial thing to change the speed of the sun, but what then? Which side of the planet do you plunge into eternal night? And how do you decide? And who decides? Are there going to be PVP wars fought for the right to be on the daylight side of the planet? You can't forget, if you make it day on one side, you are making it night on the other. That's not a problem for single player worlds, but it will be for servers, which is another reason they are not just throwing out simple fixes.

They should just increase the nighttime light intensity. I remember like pre alpha 3 or so nights were actually pretty nice, it looked like how it does when you look through a scope. Then they suddenly just made the nights arbitrarly dark and now you can't see ♥♥♥♥ or even appreciate the game's art because everything 10m away from you is complete black.
