King of the Beasts Achievement
Was looking through the achievement list. They all seem pretty standard, but then I saw this one. "You learned all of Gau's Rage commands."

Seems simple in theory, but in my dozen or so playthroughs over the past twenty years I've never actually managed to pull this off because of the random nature of the Veldt. Given, it's been a while since I've tried so I'm sure there are tricks.

Any advice on pulling this off?

That's what I was afraid of. I'd always given up in previous attempts because of the sheer amount of farming and relying on the monsters you want to appear at random.

And some monsters are missable, yes? As in, if you don't encounter them in their original location, they'll never show up in the Veldt?

Wow.. That is one that I couldn't see them making as an achievement.

Good and bad in a way. Good that they made an actual real challenge as an achievement. And it will make Gau a powerhouse in the play through what with getting all his rages as you go along.

Bad in that it will be a complete pita to actually achieve. lol

Correct, the balloon enemy only is so missable, that it appears on part of the world of balance that you never visit in game, didn't know it was on the game until the gba veraion

http://www.gamefaqs.com/snes/554041-final-fantasy-iii/faqs/35118 , this guide is outdated, but lists all the packs in the Veldt. Also, everytime you enter a battle outside the Veldt, the pack list resets. Use this to your advantage!

Use the list of encounters on the Final fantasy wiki to have the updated names of the monsters... you can also use it as a checking list

I had a six page list of all the monsters in the game as a kid. I would check off whenever I got a new rage. Every character had every magic and I never had the patience to get more than 25% of the rages.

You don't get XP on the Veldt. Farming is going to suck. I'll be checking out GameFAQs or other old site for guides.

I tried the same thing once! Still didn't manage to pull it off. This was before the internet was much of a thing so I was just using monster data from the Nintendo Power player's guide.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I'll be using the guides you provided and am currently looking for the closest thing to a "perfect walkthrough" I can find that points out when to go for what. Same with missable items, lores, that one accursed Mog dance you have to go way out of your way for, etc.

Maybe you don't get XP, but you still get the AP points to get the magics from the Espers... That's very usefull if you want to do a Low Level Game.

All FFs have some insane farming achievement (or more), like the max out every job for everyone in V (or is it IV? always mixing it up) or the kill 10,000 enemies in VIII, or the all fragments one in XIII-2. I was afraid this will be an achievement, but I also hope they fixed the old bug where some enemies couldn't even spawn on the Veldt, so a full list was practically impossible.

There should be an in-game bestiary. I assume if you get at least one kill on each enemy (filling the bestiary) you should be able to get every rage. Try to use this to your advantage (in case you missed something)

If you follow the Djibriel guide suggested, (which seems the most up to date) he lists all monster formations by area as you go through.
Make sure to flag all these monster formations and everything will be able to appear at the Veldt.
Actually getting lucky with stuff you want showing up there is another matter.
