FINAL FANTASY VI

FINAL FANTASY VI

Zobrazit statistiky:
Honestly, the most annoying change, even over sprite changes, is the spell names.
I have read over and over, yet over some more about how people are upset on how the characters look now and I honestly like the new looks but what really gets me is the name difference in the spells.

Like for instance, why would they change a spell that most of use already know of such as FIre 2 and Fire 3 to now being Fira and Firaga. I mean I can handle those but I would much rather say Fire 2 when explaining the game to others.

But what gets me is what about the spells that aren't rather self explanitory like "Holy", "Esuna" and "Gravija"? Why did THOSE need to be changed as well as a game outside of a complete remake (this game wasn't remade, just rehashed for Steam) change even those as well?

-------------------

Still though, as annoying as the new names are. I am going to do what a GROWNUP does and just learn to overcome and eventually accept the changes even if I don't like the change. I am not going to whine and whine online about the changes other than this small little thread. I sure am not going to "condemn" a good game due to a desire to wish that I had the Super Nintendo version instead but to be played on the PC.

....oh and for the record....I actually LIKE the new sprites but for this conversation instead, here are the spell names in there entirely here.

If nothing else, a SIDE OPTION in the options menu to have the sprites being what they are now or the older way and the spell names being changed back would be incredibly simple to do and would stop a lot of the complaining here.

Or ask on the FF modding forums for some nice person to make a patch that does it, that's the best part of having it on PC/Steam imo.
These are traditional spell names in the FF series. the Fire 1, Fire 2, Fire 3 were in poorly translated versions and in some cases where they were limited by the coding.

Okay, but still though. As like the others above complained about the sprites though, a simple OPTION to turn off the newer features would have taken almost no extra time and it would stop the constant bickering.

Also...

Thank you, I thought I was alone on this one. Sure, Kefka's portrait and while within a battle were awful but that is very minor compaired to the great deal of characters that I do like now better than they used to be.

The "new" spell names have been around for almost two decades at this point, AKA for most of the Final Fantasy games. The "most of us" you're talking about is actually a very small minority; the real "most of us" either don't know about the old names, or find 'em silly.

Well, most of the older people just gave the finger to Square Enix after FF7 and stopped caring about the company due to the constant flow of garbage being made.

Keep your tone down to yourself as not everyone is like you and older people do have fond memories of the older games. It just would be nice to use the names that the games are used in the games from before is all.
really names? these are the same names as the gba version i think, and that was the best version imo despite the sound graphic quality

well those stubborn older people need to crawl back to their cave and play FF1-7 all they want.

I'm one of those older people who prefer the old games (hell, my favorite game is from '90) but I don't get stuck in the past and ignore everything else. I and II are best on GBA, III on NES, IV on PSP, V and VI on GBA and VII is garbage no matter the version. Point is, remakes can easily be better than the original and the GBA versions did everything right while still changing the names.

I through VI all have the "new" names, I think it's just VII that lags behind for the moment, but the remake will also fix that.

Besides, what's this about Square not making good games after VII? IX, X and X-2 were all awesome and if fans didn't make 'em rush XII it woulda been awesome as well. First XIII was pretty meh but they learned from their mistake and both XIII-2 and Lightning Returns were good.

@op: Why? Because all games get dumbed down for Steam audiences.

Or the younger generations should learn that the world doesn't revolve around themselves to the point of even hurting their "tomorrows" just for a quick joy "today".
I've played a LOT of Final Fantasy games, but I never actually played FF6 until it hit Steam, so I never minded any of the changes. Except the battle menu.

Okay then, you are in for a treat and I would highly suggest not reading any more on the game until you beat it. I won't even tell you the playing times as the entire game should be played without knowing it but I did truly mean that the game is on my top 10 list of all times and I have played several hundred games during my lifetime in my early adulthood.
Playing VI (or any other FF game, for that matter) for the first time certainly is quite the treat. Enjoy the surprises and plot twists man.
