Can't run from Battle. (Solved)
I'm hitting the keyboad button bound to run, but I can't seem to even ATTEMPT to run. Why?
Edit: Should have Clarifed: I meant running from Battle.
Edit 2: Apparently, if it's bound to any OTHER key bar X, it doesn't work.

Because you need a character who is the thief class, or level up the thief class enough to get run as an ability

That's my problem as well. It's most likely a bug that will be fixed at a later date.

The class has the option to run as an automatic setting. It shouldn't be there if it's not possible to use until later in the game.

There's no "normal run" in this version. I know you can run faster than normal but not as fast as Thief in other 2D FF remake, sadly not in this version.

Depending on which one you mean, you learn it with the thief at level 2 or 3:

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Flee

Flee was called Escape in the older translations. Its a Level Two command ability for the Thief class, and needs 20 AP to learn. The player may [otherwise] utilize this ability by catching and releasing a Sergeant.

Sprint is learned by the Thief class, learned for 30 ABP. When equipped, the user can run twice as fast on the overhead map but not on the world map. In the iOS [and Steam] release Sprint will also work on the world map.

Double check your key bindings. You only need to press the button to attempt to escape, holding it down does nothing, as far as I can see.

Yeah, run is a toggle button in this game, if you're holding it down and won't do anything. Press it once to initiate running, press it again to stop. Keep in mind it's not automatic either, it's a random success based on each party member's speed.

The Flee ability merely guarantees a 100% success rate.

No, fleeing away has nothing to do with your party member's speed (This is not FF6).

Each battle formation has a percentage of success to escape, early battles usually have 70-100% rate. As the game goes, tougher battles will have lower chance to escape, even dropping down to 1 or nil chance. (Bosses have 0 chance, but there are a few enemies that also won't let you escape, even with Flee ability)

Now the mechanics of how is determined you'll escape is that about every 20 frames (or 3 times per second), a random number will be compared to the chances of escaping, if successful you'll run away, if not it will continue trying until either succeeds or you cancel it...

The faster walking speed combined with 8-way movement makes navigation in this game significantly faster than other versions, anyway, even without the extra level of speed.

Still can't run from battle. I have it bound to Alt, but nothing I try lets me run.

I use the X key.. works for me..

I had something strange happening. While in the item menu in a boss battle, changing equipment, the game somehow assumed I wanted to escape and wouldn't let me. All gauges were full so when cancelling I set everyone to attack. And nothing happened, the game was just in the battle without any actions happening.

That's not strange, you just said you were in a boss battle. You can't run from boss battles. The first part, anyway. The rest of it is definately a glitch of some sort.

I thought the run button was bugged until I realised it was a toggle and not 'hold this until you escape' button. They don't exactly make it clear.
Gabby Sep 28, 2015 @ 11:20am
It's actually in the provided documentation... but perhaps they could make it a bit more clear in the tooltip that displays for the first time.
