For tools actually made of better materials, there are two general effects: more durability, and the natural calorie cost of using the tool is lower. Axes in particular also do more damage with better materials, so they take less hits to chop a tree or remove a stump.

Lots of balance changes and fixes coming unfortunately as with any development we have a lot of time constraints and we simply cannot fix everything in one go i have some further plans to rework a lot of the generic talents in future updates to make them fit more in with their specialty's and professions.
