Ore deposits 8.0
So are there actual deposits in the game anymore? I'm just finding a few blocks here and there for any particular ore type, which is a really painful way to collect ore, and not really representative of how most major ore types are emplaced anyway. Have I just been unlucky in my searches?

Edit: So based on what I've seen and read so far, I'll add what I know about the deposits here.

Clay: Usually a couple layers below surface in dirt, very abundant in the jungle biome.
Iron: Sandstone. I've seen it in multiple biomes, always in sandstone.
Coal: Discovered massive seams ~10 or so blocks from the surface in the grasslands biome.
Copper: Granite. Though I've only ever seen it in small quantities in the cold forest biome near the contact with the bottom-most level of basalt and near a sandstone layer as well. I have dug in multiple areas within the cold forest and once I get below the basalt I end up finding some granite near sandstone and copper seems to reside in these regions. I have not mined further into the granite towards the boreal forest biome yet, as I have been hindered by Gneiss (I only have an iron pickaxe).
Gold: Granite. I've seen it in multiple biomes.

As for bug reports only our official bug report page on GitHub is monitored, but that should be written in the stickies: https://github.com/StrangeLoopGames/EcoIssues

Doesn't anyone actually read before posting in here?
You'll get better info on the Eco Discord than here ;)

Steam user traffic should have been more than enough to get a conversation started on the topic. Thanks for proving me wrong though.

Um, no...90% of all discussion is on discord...which is why there is a link on the bottom left of the start screen :)

Ok so wheres the point in having steam forums then? I would also like to know where to find ore. Without using discord. Thats what steam forums are made for.

apparently, the Eco devs prefer discord *shrugs*

I think the spawn rate is really low, I had to up the percentage in the world gen file and reload the world

If they sell on Steam they need to support on Steam.

With that said, the new world generation I'm finding a bit frustrating. Had to march a huge distance to find any plant based foods in a new world and still haven't found any stone, only tons of granite and limestone which is unusable until I get a better picaxe. Haven't seen any ore deposits while out looking for stone and plant based foods at all.

I was looking for player input as much as anything else, so thanks to those that have contributed so far! I have no idea what was changed with world generation, but default values are clearly not functional. The new rock types have added nothing but a very useless burden to the game at the moment. Mining and ore collection don't feel anywhere near as satisfying, so when you couple that with the "Waiting Simulator" that is the new skill point system, the game falls flat in 8.0 for me.

That's a shame Gorak, 8.0 makes the game playable again for me. It took a little to get used to, but I think 8.0 is a giant leap forward.

What is it about the vanilla settings that improved play for you? Overall, I don't get the same sense of achievement or progression that I used to, and I'm really struggling to understand the design changes for ore deposits. That said, if it's simply a matter of editing modifiers in world generation to address the ore situation I'm seeing, that would help greatly.

They forgot to add "Discord" to system requirements...

Here is the info from Discord you need to "fix" your game:

The configs that are downloaded with 8.0 are somewhat out of date. You will need to load up a client world and once in world open the serverUI (/openserverUI). This app is outside of the Eco client. Go to each configuration tab and in the Config tab for that config file, make a small change true to false or change a number just so the config knows a change has been made and will save a new version. Then in the main menu to a File > Save. Repeat this for every config. Then go to the Eco clients config folder steamapps/common/Eco/Eco_data/Server/Config and open each config with a text editor. These will now be the new and most updated Config files for your server. This is how to get the new WorldGeneator.eco so it will save properly and give you the world you want to create.

Thanks for the heads-up, chief.

In this case I wouldn't buy this game.
I really don't like another (russian) spyware on my PC.

As long as you only read, and don't have any input, you should be fine- from what I've recently read.
Couldn't someone just list which ores can be found in what rock types?
