Killers to start and learn, shows Clown???
I mean I didn't expect much from him to begin with, but Clown's one of the harder ones to play effectively, at least until you get addons and some perks. Most people can't use yellow bottles for ♥♥♥♥, and if you can't swap effectively you end up having 0 map pressure and mediocre antiloop. Bruh.
Take it from someone who actually knows how to play Clown, and leave him for when you've got some perks and addons. I agree with Wraith and Legion though, especially Legion for Discordance, aka the best tracking perk in the entire game.
Legion can be bullied a bit in higher ranks if survivors know to hard focus objectives, and split up but is plenty viable all ranks. Your early game is how you snowball with em most games. Regardless-
All the perks are decent too, especialy discordance.
Other than that, Oni and blight are fun but probably wouldn’t be my first pick. Watch some videos on how the characters play.
But... But if you use the yellow bottles liberally to truck around the map by flinging them far ahead as you run, you get map pressure! >_< I've seen too many people just using purple bottles and it drives me up the wall! Aaaaaa!
You don't really need addons when you know to use him, but I'll give the DBD team credit; Clown addons are almost universally all satisfying as hell to use and allow for a bunch of different playstyles.
Thick Cork Stopper+Smelly Inner Soles are a nice combo for general use and make it nice to reload in a yellow cloud. Or alternately you can just go for +3 bottles and reload less. Take the Garish Makeup Kit+Cigar Box and every yellow bottle is 7 seconds of wallhacks in a 16m radius... I fuggin love maining Clown, bros!
My personal favourite meme build is Agitation, NOED, Play With Your Food paired with Makeup Kit+Solvent Jug. You can get effing FAST at endgame with that stuff, and it's also a great way to near guarantee basement hooks from nearly anywhere. Just chuck a bottle on their body, then chuck another one a few metres ahead where you want to go before you pick up for maximum boost.
Edit: Any budding clown mains want idea for an actual good build when you got some practice, try Discordance, A Nurse's Calling, Hex: Plaything and Hex: The Third Seal. If you can KO and hook a survivor early, they're going to be unable to see your aura, their friends auras or hear you approaching at all. It lacks gen regression but unless you get god tier sweatlords or refuse to use yellow bottles to travel, that won't be an issue.
