Isn't cheryl the daughter? and Cheryl in DBD looks exactly like Heather Mason from the franchise

It's the same person. Cheryl is her original name, while Heather is basically a made-up name she took in an attempt to hide from the cult.

Cheryl wasn't her original name, it was of her past life before she died and was reincarnated. Her name was Heather but after SH3 she changed her name to Cheryl for some reason about honoring her lat life.

She was originally Alessa, then got reincarnated into Cheryl, then got reincarnated into Heather again. But at the end of Silent Hill 3 decides to go back to calling herself Cheryl.

DBD takes the Heather/Cheryl from post Silent Hill 3.
