cakes, etc., do not stack for me?

i literally have a screenshot of the end result of one of my last games, where 3 mates used the 104% party cake & i used the bp streamers & my result only got doubled? so technically, only my add-on affects me?
& then i just played with other random players of which also 3 had the damn cake and it had no effect on me whatsoever. every game since the 4th anniversary update has been that way for me, before that, i remember all kinds of streamers and cake stacking just fine.
is that supposed to be like that? it drives me insane lol i need to level up my main and it ain't fair if its some kinda bug. :(
