How is no one noticing how absurd the doctor is?
The doctor is literally completely broken and I have no clue why they reworked him. You can be completely out of his sight behind a hay bale for example, and he shocks everyone in his vicinity. Next thing you know, you're being chased, and eventually die because you're instantly in tier 3 madness. Oh, you're healing way out of his vision? No worries, you'll start screaming and alert him of your position. Every time I get matched up with a doctor, it's just not fun and ruins the experience for me. How do you even counter him? Any chance the devs will nerf him and possibly revert him back to his original state? Anyone agree with me?

Calm Spirit hard counters him.

"But I don't want to use a perk to counter a single killer."
You use small game to counter hag and trapper.

You use Spine Chill to counter the stealth killers.

You use Calm Spirit to counter doctor and infectious fright, a very popular meta perk on killers such as billy.

Yes, he is really absurd. They should buff him.

He slows down while shocking use that to keep tight to the loop you are on. His AoE shock is only useful for advancing their madness and locating. Otherwise he can only chase one at a time. When you get rid of M3 it goes down to M1. It used to only go down to M2 with the original Doc.

They won't nerf him because he was crap before and even more annoying back then. I play solo at red ranks just fine especially against him.

His Static Burst has a lengthy cooldown and its radius is equal to his Terror Radius- So whenever you hear a heartbeat, you need to keep in mind he might Static Burst and reveal your location.

Most Doctors are pretty predictable as to when they'll use it, it'll either be if they know lots of Survivors are nearby, or if they don't have a Survivor to chase and suspect one might be hanging around.

If you think the doc might use it, hide in a Locker, and it'll ignore you. Then you can keep playing with the knowledge another Static Burst won't come for about a minute or so. The best medicine (pun intended) for Doctor counterplay is good looping however, as he is mostly an ordinary M1 Killer and his only advantage is his ability to temporarily deny Survivor animations.

Also, no, Doctor is far better now than he originally was. Madness is a much less confusing mechanic now and he has to wager his Static Burst instead of finding Survivors for free passively.

Note: Re. Calm Spirit, do not use it.

While Perks/Addons that counter specific strategies are to an extent healthy for the game, we shouldn't be using things like these as easy answers to questions. Especially when a Perk/Addon has a high chance of not really paying off. Calm Spirit is a nice anti-Doctor perk, but it's terrible outside of fighting Doctor and has a very low chance per match of actually doing anything beneficial, while a better perk will almost certainly be useful in every single match you bring it.

As a community, we shouldn't be saying "just use X". Counter perks are nice but mechanics should always have counterplay outside of Perks- I think my and some other posts here have indeed done a good job highlighting that Doctor has some. Don't use Perks to just dismiss people's concerns, otherwise I'll have to inform you that you aren't allowed to complain about flashlights ever again because Lightborn exists.

Imo his biggest buff is the build-in Reverse skill checks. That ♥♥♥♥ is hard to react to

Using 1 perk for the chance of counter only 1 killer is stupid and the chances are low, against any other killer is stupid.

No one uses small game, and if they do they use it for totems.

Spine chill works against every killer and there are more stealth killer in game (like 6 and doctor is only 1) plus the bonus

CS counters Doc, Clown, and some perks. It's not a weak perk in any stretch. It's more for stealth players anyways as Doc being notified of someone doesn't mean squat if they know how to loop.

It's a perfect killer for beginners or "bad" (lazy) killers.
I never lose a game with him.
He's totally op not in every aspect but op in chase, support and detection.

Chase : now just spam m2 for 3 seconds survivors are useless
support : wanna heal someone or clean this hex ruin ? Nope one shock and your madness 3 better than franklin's demise
Detection : You lost the survivor ? No problem jsut blast the zone and have fun

Before this only weaknesses (and requires a bit of skill) was he needed change his weapons to hit.
Now it's ridiculous, some main killers will argue he doesn't have map control or oneshot but let's be honest he's at least top 5 powerful killer on the game.
Doc Mar 25, 2020 @ 12:33pm
Well I understand why they reworked him, he absolutely needed a large buff. However, I do agree with you that they went overboard with it a bit. I think that they just gave him too much, fast movement speed, an AOE, screaming, madness, and his stun that prevents all actions, his kit is just too large and versatile. Even as great as calm spirit is against him, you can't expect players to run it every single game on the off chance they encounter one of the few perks and/or killers in the game that actually get countered by that perk. Even with a calm spirit counter, Doctor is still a very difficult killer to go against. I will also say though, that I don't want him nerfed to the point he used to be. I think a few minor tweaks and nerfs would put him in a perfect spot.

1. After most doctors hook someone they use their static blast. Just go in a locker to avoid it + to avoid BBQ.
2. After he shocks you , he has a 2 second cooldown that he can't do anything (even M1 you). Use it to your advantage.
3. A Good Dr will wait just the right time to shock you so you won't do the pallet drop. Don't be greedy and just drop the pallet after 1 or 2 loops (basically -1 loop from what you were doing before)

Unlike others , I would suggest that you do NOT use Calm Spirit. Use your regular build and Dead hard. Dead hard is not affected by his shock.

Totally agree. After his "buff" he became extremely strong in my opinion. You cant really hide from him now and he can zap you even if you arent near to him...
I would like to see him like he was before, it was way better than now...

Old Doc could have matches last 30+ mins. You just need to learn that Doc is a killer to loop and run from. If you have good hearing then go into a locker before his AoE shock goes off if you hear it charging.

That's the theory, in-game try to do it I won in rare time against a doctor
