Getting the game to work - (Multicore Intel/Geoforce)
Okay, I messed around with this for a few hours and pressed settings and buttons I didn't even know I had, trying to make it work. The reason I listed (well the shorts) of my two graphic cards is because the issues I had are unique to a duel card multicore computer. Intel cards cannot play this game it seems, I'm sorry if you were hoping for a fix for that. This is a guide to getting the game to run smoothly with your NVIDIA card.

I was getting the "Steam not found" and the "Cannot create hardware vertex processing device. Please check with your hardware manufacturer to make sure that your video card indeed has hardware vertex processing" error.

First (for everyone,) if you are planning to play this with a controller, download this patch:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=455805875

-Compatibility- (+Can't find Steam FIX)

1. Go to your Steam Bloodrayne game folder. (on my computer its 'D:\Steam')
2. Right click the Steam.exe and select 'Properties'
3. Select "Run as Admin"
4. Apply, then close
5. Locate the file called "Steam.dll" (found in the same folder) COPY it (don't move it or cut it, Steam needs it too)
6. Go to your Steam Bloodrayne game folder. (on my computer its 'D:\Steam\steamapps\common\BloodRayne')
7. Paste the dll file into the directory
8. Right press the "Rayne.exe" and on the 'Compatibility' tab, select
*Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
*Run As Admin
*Compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3
9. Apply, and close.

-Resolution Fix-
1. Go to your Steam Bloodrayne game folder, and then into the "System" folder inside the directory. (on my computer its 'D:\Steam\steamapps\common\BloodRayne\system')
2. Open the "RENDER.ini" file with notepad.
3. Either add these lines (if the doc is empty) or change these to be:

gamePIXY=1080
gamePIXX=1920

You can also make this into another resolution, simply change the numbers to what you want.

-Fixing the multicore conflict- (performance FIX)

****(the memory error you get at the start everyone gets, it's unimportant, just ignore it)

1. Start the game and until you get to the graphics config screen
2. Open taskmanager (Control+Shift+Escape)
3. Go the "Information" tab
3. Right click "rayne.exe" and press the "Set Affinity" option, then deselect everything except "CPU 0"

-FPS Drop FIX-

This game is old, you need to cap the FPS to 30 if you wish for it to run smoothly.
Follow these instructions here:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1820131

-Fix Dual Graphics Card Conflict- (Wrong CPU FIX)

1. Open the NVIDIA control panel, (right click the task bar icon (if you have it) and select the second option)
2. Go to "3D Options"
3. Under the "Global Settings" tab, choose the NVIDIA card, save the change by pressing the prompt at the bottom

-Actually Launching The Game-

1. Start the game (if you are playing this with a Xbox 360 controller, make sure it's on before launching and that you've installed the controller patch)
2. Wait until you get to the config screen
3. Scroll up with the movement keys, and at "3D Card" press it ONCE. It should blink, and it will still SAY Intel, but it has actually selected your second card (if your computer is like mine, the NVIDIA card)
4. Change any other settings you want.
5. Press Play
6. Enjoy

Sorry about the mess. I translated the Windows option from Swedish so they might be slightly incorrect. I've also been messing with this for too long but I wanted to spare others from the pain if I could. I hope this helps!

I am going to play BloodRayne now...

The instructions for the Compatibility (Cannot find Steam FIX) make no sense. You're changing the compatibility settings for the same file(Since your average person will ONLY have the Bloodrayne .exe in the steamapps bloodrayne folder, no idea why you have two, with one being in the main steam folder) with no explanations as to why. You could've cut out the first part of the instructions and simply said "Copy Steam.dll to bloodrayne folder, disable DPI, run as admin, compatibility for Windows XP Service Pack 3.

I agree with Robot death party: first part of instructions are confusing. But the most important thing is: i follwed your instructions and now i can play (i was missing hope). So: Thank you man!! And thanks a lot to every people writing to help other guys in fixing game's problems.

For the multicore conflict, a software named "RunWithAffinity" can make it easier. You don't need to open the taskmanager every time.

Thanks for this. Cured the OUT OF RANGE error :)

One problem I'm getting on the 'training' mission is that the characters' speech is being cut short. Any ideas what would be causing that?

I'm getting this message after the the opening video, "Direct X error - code 887608868 - the device is lost and cannot be restored at the current time, so rendering is not possible. While trying to do this: Can't reset the device."
I'm not terribly great with computers and not a huge gamer - I really want my game to work though. I have a new Asus Republic of Gamers computer. It has windows 10. It has problems with 7Days to Die (runs but I can only play on others worlds), and resolution issues with Vampire the Masquarade - Bloodlines. Issues with non Steam games - Battle net and World of Warcraft have trouble installing, so I'm not suprised that it has problems. I was thinking compatability issues, but I can't figure how to deal with compatibility with something that runs as a shortcut to a url. -? I'm lost.

You can just start the game directly on a single core without having to alt+tab to process manager. This is less bothersome and a LOT faster than your proposed multicore fix.

Make a shortcut to following location (this is one single line):
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 F:\Steam\steamapps\common\BloodRayne\rayne.exe

You can change the affinity to whatever core you wish. I just pick "1" because it points to the second core (giving the ol' core 1 - affinity 0 - a bit of rest as it is used by almost everything else). It really doesn't matter however which one you chose.

And, still in the shortcut window, enter your game directory for the "start in" option:
F:\Steam\steamapps\common\BloodRayne

Then select the game icon manually if you want. Easiest is to grab it from the cached version in your Steam directory:
C:\Games\Steam\steam\games\c7caf7b72e38b628be39b880b10236e4aa

Finally, under "advanced" at the bottom of the shortcut window, you can check the "Run as administrator" option. There is no possibility to pick compatibility options, disable DPI scaling etc. but I find that all that is not really necessary anyway.

My game is on my F: drive, but this will probaly be the C: drive for most others. It will only work if there are NO SPACES in the directory path however. The name of the game icon may also be different for you, but you can probably recognise it from the icon.
