Alright, I don't care what you got to say, but I have been fishing that river over and over and I have netted about 8 fish total!!!

I am starting to believe that the river is only useful if you own the DLC lures.

Just look at all the pictures where players are stating "I caught so many X fish!".

All the pictures show bag loads of fish, but guess what?! ALL USING DLC FISHING LURES!

GUESS WHAT LEVEL THEY UNLOCK? LEVEL 23!!!

So guess what. You won't be able to catch bag loads of fish unless your level 23 and buy the new lures at the store or........





BUY THE DLC!

PAY 2 WIN? OR JUST OVER REACTION. YOU TELL ME FOLKS!

Yes you can catch fish there. There are an unrealistic amount of unique fish on sunny days in one spot casting to one rock, out of the entire waterway.

It's not balanced, not even close. You get 600+ pounds on a sunny day, then the following day you're lucky to scratch by with a 100lbs. I know some of you will say you limit on any day.

Problem is it's more profitable to skip all except sunny days, even if it costs you 500 or mroe dollars, since you can make 2K from that one day (3 game hours) and yet you'll spend several IRL hours pulling a lure through empty water otherwise. This is for most people. There are some who have some success here or there with very specific selections, casting to that tree, with that lure, at that time.

I don't mind a heavier haul on a sunny day, but it's a bit out of whack right now.

I haven't had any problems getting 400 plus pounds of fish on cloudy or partly cloudy days.

put on a movie, series, youtube show, podcast, critical role, and just keep hammering the same spot over and over...

yes the fishing is bad most of the time, but you need like 2 fish to pay for the day rest is profit, 1 unique will pay for a lot of tackle and gear.

My first fishing trip was horrendous, my 2nd is going pretty well even with all the 3-4 fish days in there, don't like those bad days? time travel to the next, only fish sunny days, less profit in the end but you might feel better.
Check the uber sheet, check youtube vids to get to the right spots, and double check if you are using the correct lures.

DLC packs, i dont know if you fish in RL, be glad they dont price the dlc based on what it would cost in RL to buy rods, reels and tackle equivalent to that.

At the end it's a game, and we are submitted to the vision of the devellopers, these discussions are as old as online gaming, and while it's good to voice your opinion, these kinda threads are also the reason why there are not top notch games around anymore, devs trying to cater to the loudest voices instead of making the game they wanted.

i gotta stop typing before we have a 50k word essay on here, just play catch 2-3 fish a day to pay for the day, if it's a slow day time travel...

Sorry but even a low level with no dlc can fish for pink salmon and carp, pink salmon give great xp for low levels too.

I bought the DLC and after some difficults i manage to catch a LOT of fishes in 1 RL day. Yesterday i wanted to catch some more after i wasted too much on other equipment but after 4 game days and only 8 fishes i give up. No matter wich lure or spot i used, no matter the wheather or the time, no fishes at all.. Disappointing.
I think is not about DLC or level, looks a little bit too random. Sometime the water is empty and you just get some bite . Only manage to get 4 fishes changing spot and lure everytime.

alaska is not the only waterway that was affected by the most recent update. there are several glitches that began to occur after the update was installed. I tried posting on steam support regarding these issues, however, i receive error 301 or something like that. It appears they shut down their support page temporarily due to the overload of complaints. I like to think this is an issue they are working on resolving. I do have screenshots of the issues i personally encountered, two of the most common are Fish in Hand which requires a force close, and Unmatched Fish which you are credited for a different fish than the one you caught. I have not yet been able to fish in Alaska, when i click Go Fishing, the cursor vanishes but the waterways never load. I have also heard reports of a Side Cast Glitch in which the line disappears but no menus open up due to rod being cast. I hope someone important cn feast there eyes on this response since the support page is down. I would really like for these issues to be resolved.

The side cast glitch has been around for as long as I've played. Best way to avoid it is not use right click aiming casts and just hold and release when the powerbar gets where you want it. Always overhand casts that way. You can usually fix that bug, though, by dipping your rod tip into the water to register that the lure/bait has hit water.

I think they introduced a much wider bug with the new patch. California is wrecked too, same wild RNG, same poor catches. I haven't bothered wasting money to test other zones, but for me California used to be a sure bet. Now it's Alaska reskinned.

Speaking about Alaska, I've spent TWO DAYS IRL trying to catch one chinook. Not an uni. A normal. I knew all those spots, I knew the lures, I knew the times. Nothing.

Then yesterday I went in a friends-only room with a buddy, casted again in THE SAME stupid spot, aiming at the same stupid rock, using the same old 6/0 red tiger. And guess what? By 7:30 AM game time i had a stringer full of Trophy Chinook. And a fat Unique to top it all. Why? Because... dunno.

You can tell me stories about weather and lures and all. But it's just a bug. It hits you hard, it stays there for days and it only accidentally goes away when you "reset" you fishing chances by relogging a million times and/or changing rooms. You basically get tagged "no fish 4 you idiot" and you get to carry that tag for days.

10/10 frustration guaranteed.

Cali is fine for me, infact im doing better there than ever after the patch. But i use bobber there mostly, maybe its slower on cranks now what with the change to them. Bobber though im clearing 100kg roughly in just one game hour. (Fast for me lol)

FULLY AGREE..I WILL GET ON AND TRY..IF IT ACTS THE SAME..JUST PLAY SOMETHING ELSE -QUIT BRAGGIN AND COMPLAININ...REALLY YOU DONT THINK THEY ARE FULLY AWARE BY NOW COME ON ....
