The multiplayer playerbase for Doom (2016) probably moved to Doom Eternal.
Nah, it was active for the better part of the last four years - and Eternal's MP is currently even less active.
Teamplay lobbies in NA and EU generally have at least one lobby running at this point.
All multiplayer is inherently repetitive, especially arena shooters. The variation comes from your opponents, and if either you or they aren't of sufficient skill to provide interest, it's going to feel boring.
Also the times where the teams are unleveled like... Let's say 2 vs 5 and when a new player gets in, it have high chances of enter in the team with higher numbers.
But overall the mode itself is good, it only needs some twiches there and there.
