Part of me is curious just how much it would cost to ship the thousands of disks needed.
What wit?
I'm being serious bruh
If people really want to make arguments, make them. Not some half-arsed remarks that make no sense. That they would need to make sure things like UI or character/gun model wouldn't glitch out on lower FOV with 4:3 ration. Then it of course depends how time and resource consuming it would be. Really, just saying you don't think it would be cost effective is better than these "jokes".
Not evryone can afford such hardware? As i said a widescreen IPS 5 ms 1080p 60 HZ 21,5'' costs only 140 euros adnd as i said is the cheapest monitors currently avaliable. If you can not buy this that is the worsr and cheapest monitor currently i dont think that you will have a pc powerful enough to run the game even at low settings 1920x1080. It is the monitor that i have
What's the problem? You were playing, already and it seems like it worked for you.
But even if there won't be 4:3 resolutions, I'm pretty sure that this won't have a big impact on sales. Nowadays, big publishers have many ways to determine what hardware most people play on and I guess that most have switched their 4:3 monitors to 16:9 or higher.

I have a mid range gaming pc and the game seemed to run about 45-50 fps. It could be higher if it was my native resolution 1280x1024. Also image looked a bit blurry for the same reason. If it doesn't have more options then developers were lazy. The end.
because it's the standard for TV/Monitors
I wonder how many recent games still have 4:3 ratio as an option.
I think noone since ... 2008?
you can still find 16:10 sure but 4:3?
nope.
bottom line, I highly doubt there will be a 4:3 resolution on DOOM 2016 or any other coming games.
either you buy a new monitor or give up new games.
You sound awfully colonblasted, keep the salt down bruh
But no one plays Just Cause 3 or Rainbow six or DIRT Rally on anything lower than 1920x1080. Why? Because most people has 1920x1080 monitors. And the few very rich ones has a 4k monitor. Those with midrange gaming pc play on 1920x1080 monitors but on medium settings or low settings but still 1920x1080 resolution. If you see that the game dosent run well on high settings at 1920x1080 you just lower the settings not the resolution. Or buy a new graphics card and then play at ultra settings.
What your pc specs?
To LazarheaD: 4:3 is not used by a lot of people, likely around 1% of the gaming populace at best. Its not lazy, its logical that devs don't support it anymore, welcome to the future. Its called focusing on the majority by over 95% who use the 16:9 ratio. Its far, far from lazy, unless using logic is lazy, but i guess it kinda is since then you don't need to explain logic to those with common sense.
And to Shredder: 4k is slowly becoming less expensive. Within the next two or three years 4k will become affordable for mid end rigs. Look at 4k TVs, they are going under 1000 bucks now. The amazement of exponential technological growth :D
Yeah, well the majority will also vote for Trump...
1: trump now has a serious chance to be banned from the election due to anti discrimination laws which he violated when he stated that he wanted muslims specifically to be banned from entering the country, and yes everyone is looking at that as the excuse we all want to get him out.
2: you do realize less than 50-60% of the populace in the us alone votes right? also this is an international game. Also politics are on a completely different topic.
3: This is how you know someone can't argue a point. since we, as in the MAJORITY reading this, can make the assumption that you are trying to "insult" the MAJORITY, it can be stated that you just ad hominem-ed the majority, which is pretty sad.
