Yes the only one who is playing on a 10+ years old monitor. i had a CRT until summer 2006. Now i have a LG 22MP55 21,5'' 1080 IPS that the game will look 100 times better than your CRT. In summer 2006 i got a 19'' LG 1280X1024 LCD that i kept till summer 2004. Vey strange that you are still continue using this.

You are kidding right? The FW 900 is the best gaming monitor and the best overall monitor ever brought to market. There still is nothing on the horizon that even comes close to rivaling the FW 900.

And LCDs can't even begin to compare to CRT displays. Sure many people are will to make the huge sacrifices to go smaller and slimmer, but that does not make a good display. People have different preferences, but objectivly all things considierd practically any CRT display has vastly greater performance than any LCD.

I am with you Flybye. I will be using CRT displays for quiet some time it seems as I can't stand LCDs, and OLED technology is not good enough yet.

I wish companies would look in to Bio-OLED technology as it just might be what the industry needs at the moment.

what is this, 2010?

my sony XBR 55" LED 2160p TV would like to disagree with you.

CRT was dead with DLP came on to the market. DLP was far superior to CRT. the current FW900 is basically like betamax technology. dead. and curretn LED tech surpasses DLP in colour reproduction and contrast.

(edit :: and I'll admit, Samsung's 40" DLPs from 2008/2009 were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ phenomenal monitors, just like the FW900 was... key word WAS.)

LED 55" :: 2160p native ::120hz :: 34ms latency :: 39lbs :: HDMI :: 1400$ retail at launch
CRT 24" :: 1440p ONLY :: 80hz :: no latency :: 94lbs :: no HDMI :: 2500$ retail at launch

Im sorry but what?? "In summer 2006 i got a monitor that i kept till summer 2004" Are u a time traveller lol.
Probably hahaha. You really should upgrade though, and especially if you use your PC a lot.

CRTs are very power thirsty compared to LED flat-screen monitors. If you buy something like a 24" that uses maybe 25W, you will save substantially in electricity. You could get back the money you pay for an LED monitor in one year, by saving electricity.

Whatever, bro, CRT is the only way to get that authentic 1993 experience.

Excuse me while I go wax my beard.
LOLz I forgot about this thread.

I only still use a CRT on my gaming rig. Once this baby dies, then Im sure I will get an LCD. By then I will probably upgrade to 4k. Until then, my 94lb CRT will keep playing at 0ms refresh rate. ;-) On my dev computer I use 2 x 1920x1200 and 1 1920x1080

Oh and double lolz on the guy comparing my GDM to 1280x1024 LCD from 2006!

Oh, and I use gold BNC connectors. =)

Oh, I never meant to say your unit was *bad* .. those were beastly CRTs. Hell, Imax technology still uses DLP, so there is no reason *not* to use what still works.

You might as well hold out for 4k, the content is almost here. WB is releasing a bunch of 4k content this year and games already run 4k. All you need is a 960 or better and a 650W or higher power supply.

In another age, I used my Commodore 64 monitor for my NES, SNES, *and* N64 monitor. I would have kept it longer if the Xbox hadn't made the switchfrom RCA to AV. But by that point, HDMI was out so I went with an HDMI and skipped AV altogether.

My PC became my home theatre at that point because a company called Blue Jan Cables makes an excellent DVI to HDMI cable, so everything runs through my amp.

You'll enjoy 4k content. I just made the upgrade. I went from a 40" Samsung LCD to a 55" Sony LED and couldn't be happier. Model is the x810c XBR if you're curious.

Wow. 120hz and 4k. That almost brought a tear to my eye. Any gripes about it? Ghosting, etc?

I have a 3770k overclocked to 4.7ghz and I have 2 x 660ti cards also overclocked, but they each only have 3gb of vram. Bioshock Infinite runs amazing at 2304x1440. Doom4 will be a great test. When I do switch to a 4k monitor, Ill be worried Ill also have to upgrade ly video cards because of only having 3gb of vram.
