What kind of a crash is it? Straight to desktop? Any error window? Blue screen? Did it work once before?
Silver Jan 19, 2020 @ 9:09pm
"DOOM Unhandle Exception Issue" is the header of the crash error window. No, it has never worked before.

My apologies! RAWR called me and notified me his internet connection dropped out due to a severe thunderstorm he is facing at home!

Ur most likely issue u are facing is due to the new driver from nvidia a lot of people have encounter issues including my self to the point we had to role back our driver to 436.48 is the known working driver without issues! Give that a go and I’m certain ur problem will be resolved!

Unfortunately an Unhandled Exception error is a shot in the dark some times, so it's best to look at the obvious things first and work back.

Samael, if he shows up, is the real expert with those. Below is a list of things to try that he posted in response to someone else.

Ok let me cut and paste the most used solutions from previous threads where people actually fixed their problems.

1. Use DDU to uninstall your drivers. Reinstall latest. Use DDU in safe mode. It will ask you to reboot in safe mode before deleting all traces of the older drivers.

2. Deactivate steam overlay.

3. Turn off Geforce experience optimization. Nvidia only.

4. Verify the integrity of the game cache of Doom in your library.

5. Remove all overclock if you have any.

6. Reinstall the Redist from the _CommonRedist folder inside Doom's folder.

7. Reset your graphics settings to default in your Nvidia control panel

8. Open doomconfig.local change r_renderapi "1" to r_renderapi "0" or vice versa.

9. OR try both the .exe inside Doom's folder. One is for OpenGL. The other one for Vulkan.

10. Shut down all non essential programs like Sonic Studio, AI suite, Duet display, monitoring software, backup software. Any softwares not needed.

11. Make sure you did your Windows Updates.

12. Run the game and steam as Administrator.

13. Add +com_skipIntroVideo 1 to Doom launch options.

I will add more if nothings work.

While possible, the driver issues affected 600 and 700 series cards.

Not unusual. It always says that. You can check your own.

If you do intend to help at least stick with prevalent facts.
