Might have to switch your primary monitor default under your Display Settings.

I've been experiencing the same issue. I'm running an external monitor from my laptop. I have to open and close the laptop lid to prevent the external monitor from freezing.

under settings, when you are choosing resolution, there is a value that is either "0" or "1" next to the resolution if you scroll down far enough. if it's 1, switch to 0... if it's 0 switch to 1.

You can change the Resolution and Monitor,
but if you restart your computer, it will still use the wrong Monitor...

On my computer it even resets the Resolution (of the wrong Monitor) to 640x480 (even though that one is capable of what I set the resolution to before)
and it doesn't turn the resolution back on switching Monitors in the settings (so I always need to do that manually).

I have 3 Monitors attached and I just want want to run Doom on my primary Monitor
(even the Doom Settings call it "Default"),
But it then always seems to choose another one...

It seems to me that Doom does use some random numbering for Monitors, which might be the problem...
I hope someone is working on a fix... it is really annoying to start the game.

Believe me, I know. The comment I wrote was a joke since people are posting on a beta forum.

Actually I have found a possible fix for the issue. If it's the same issue I had, it's a windows monitor discovery issue. The easiest way to see if you have the same issue as me is to go into your Display Settings and use the "identify" option to see which monitors are which, then go to the advanced settings for the monitor, open the color management and use that identify option. When I did, the monitors didn't identify the same. At any rate, to get windows to "reaquire" the monitors use this.
