Input lag obnoxiousness!
Alright, I have been playing this game, and although I have been at the hands of some gimped input lag more than the cacaphony of enemies in any given battle, I have been able to adapt to it... Unfortunately, switching between games is an extreme lesson in perception! It is irritating beyond belief!

Regardless, the point of this is to see if anybody, anywhere, has *some* fix for this? I don't see a lot of complaints about my exact experience, as the game runs perfectly on my 970 G1 Gaming @1,520mHz Core/7,600mHz VRAM, R4BE, 4930K @ 4.5gHz, 32GB RAM, Acer Predator monitor, 2x Samsung 840 Evo in R.A.I.D. 0, Logitech G710+, Logitech G502, but the input lag is atrocious!

Initially it was non-existent, but as I crept further in, by the 3rd level it was unplayable, turning off G-Sync fixed 80% of the input lag, but still, it plagues me...

I've tried various display settings, indeed, even tried 3 out of my 4 panels, and still, it ruins gameplay... Tried stock clocks on my CPU/GPU/VRAM/RAM, and still the same, the only thing that has any effect was the G-Sync...

So, does anybody have any solution for this, at all, even just suggestions?

Thank you kindly!!!

~J

Yeah, it has enforced mouse smoothing, which is dumb. You have to disable it by adding the launch option: +set m_smooth 0
right-click doom in your library go to properties and just enter that and it's gone. Also obviously turn off vsync if you haven't already.

Apologies, I've already done that. I should have mentioned in the OP. VSync is indeed off. :-)

Maybe double check if you put it in right because that made a big difference for me "+set m_smooth 0" without quotation marks. Maybe check if your cpu is maxing out, although that should cause more of a stutter than imput lag.

Also step back cpu and gpu overclocks to factory and see if you still have that issue. Other than that, you probably know the drill: update drivers, check hardware, last resort: re-install windows.

Also try vulkan in the graphics option... was just released today.
We have a very similar setup and I'm super sensitive to input lag and I think Doom is exceptionally good on that front for a AAA title.

turn off vsync and vulkan they both do input lag

Awesome, thank you all for the input (without lag... ;-)

However, I have attempted all of the steps above... To no avail, although, I did not see any improvement from the Mouse Acceleration 'fix', could that be due to my OS and my mouse hardware having no acceleration? I am pretty certain that acceleration is done on a per-app basis, but I am not entirely certain.

I also should have been more specific, the mouse suffers from no lag, at least none I can discern as significant, it is only the keyboard input. Additionally, it is ALWAYS when DOOM is running, even if I alt-tab out and start typing somewhere (typically to respond to either a text message (Google Voice) or a Hangouts conversation, it also lags, but again, the mouse, for all intents and purposes, is lag free... I can zip my 'head' around as much as I like, and it is responsive, but any movement is significantly delayed, Indeed in some cases, easily over a full second... I kill DOOM, plewp! Everything is back to normal... So the lag is system-wide while DOOM is running...

Again, thank you kindly,

nonicknamesatall, that is a lot of useless and incorrect information. OP... you should really have been more descriptive in your post, but anyway: what you're describing could be caused by a keylogger virus or maybe anti-keylogger software (antivirus?). Possibly but unlikely a usb related issue. Try using PS2 if you have the adapter and port, update usb drivers.
All in all this is an obscure enough issue that it's probably faster to do a complete re-install than to track it down.

nonicknamesatall I am going to have to agree with DER HOELLE RACHE, despite my great appreciation of your effort, much of the information you have provided is categorically incorrect. Additionally, it appears that you are misunderstanding the issue that I am having, my framerate is fantastic, a steady 80-110FPS with most settings on high a few on ultra. The problem I am having is that when I press forward, backward, strafe, or whatever other keyboard input there is a distinct lag, in some cases over a full second. Mouse *usually* works fine, but since the update I am finding that it is, hmmm... Odd... There isn't a great way to describe it, but just not quite right...

Anyhow... DER HOELLE RACHE, what else would you have liked me to add to be 'more descriptive' in my OP? I am genuinely wondering.

Interesting thoughts... I know there's nothing of that nature installed, I am incredibly particular about the sites I visit, and the software I use. I am by no means a noob, as I have been servicing computers for the better part of 20 years now, and a dedicated PC gamer for a few years longer than that... I typically solve problems on my own, but in dealing with cancer and kidney failure, I am finding some things just easier to deal with when asking for help (a pride issue on my part - As I know I can fix it myself, and asking for help is an issue thereof). I've tried using different USB ports, uninstalling/reinstalling all related software and drivers, in addition to a complete removal and reinstallation of the USB drivers, even going so far as to actually disable the additional USB controllers that are not part of the Intel chipset. Unfortunately my board lacks a PS/2 port, but I believe that it is probably not related to the USB at all, as it would likely be an issue elsewhere if it were, that being said, it is always a possibility.

Unfortunately, it would seem that I'll just have to deal with the issue for now, and probably until I beat the game, as a clean installation of the OS is just not an option at this point, just due to the aforementioned health issues at this time.

I am beginning to wonder if this is somehow an OpenGL issue related to some obscure setting or something on my system, as it only occurs with this game, I do plan to do some thorough testing later on when I get out of the hospital hopefully this weekend, just to see if other OpenGL applications cause/have the same problem.

Regardless, I do thank you kindly for taking the time!

Sorry to hear that. I must admit that I never use it myself either, but windows actually has an awesome recovery feature and all you have to do is create a restore point after you've done a clean installation with all the programs you need. When something like this happens you can always roll back to that point. You might actually have a restore point if you're lucky (just type in "restore point" in the launcher and it should show up)

I've had a problem a few months back where games would just drop frames like crazy in some areas and cpu usage seemed ridiculously high on everything and I couldn't figure out what it was. I was really close to just wiping everything and then I remembered I had put energy management on power saving and forgot to switch it back and that was all there was to it. Sometimes it's the simplest things.
