DOOM
Vulkan has eliminated screen tearing when V-sync is disabled.
So, I found this too good to be true. When Vsync is disabled, I have ZERO screen tearing and my fps hovers at 130-160. When enabled, I get a strict FPS of 60 with the known input delay. When disabled, FPS shoots back up, input delay is NOT noticeable anymore, and screen tearing is still non-existent. Am I the only one who has been blessed by this? My TV is my monitor, and it's a very basic/generic Sceptre brand.

So.. lemme get this straight. When you enable Vulkan, you get no tearing on a 60hz display with vsync off?

Yes. I'm trying to convince myself this is a placebo effect... but the in game FPS stats (and constantly enabling/disabling Vsync to do a doublet-take) have me questioning my sanity at the moment.

I also switched back to OpenGL and saw screen tearing again with Vysnc off. Enabling Vsync smoothed things back out as expected, but input delay noticeably increased.

Also, all my vsync settings are disabled in Nvidia control panel. Still no tearing.

Actually I think I saw the same effect, still Vullkan gives me 60FPS sustained, don't really need more. So VSYNC remains ON here.

Are you in windowed fullscreen? Because in windowed fullscreen there is never screen tearing. At least normally in any video game, but for some reason not under OpenGL in Doom.

My gripe with playing Doom on Ultra-Nightmare is that I was having to disable vsync to get the best possible input response time, but then the screen tearing was driving me nuts because it was killing the silky smooth presentation. Now Vulkan appears to be granting me acceptable input speeds without having to tolerate screen tearing. I really do not need more than 60fps, but input delay does return for me (even when in Vulkan) when I enable vysnc in the in-game options.

Same thing happened to me.

I'm in full screen. But before Vulkan, I was still getting screen tearing in OpenGL when vsync was disabled.

Works for me too. I play on a tv as well. This is the best!

Fullscreen doesn`t work right with Vulkan. It actually runs in borderless window even if it is set to fullscreen.

I too have no more screen tearing! It was abysmal in OpenGL.

Yeah, it must be this. I came here to ask how to force exclusive fullscreen with Vulkan but I'm not sure there is a way.

When you play on high number fps (like 140) you don't see much tearing in any game, it' normal.
On window or borderless window mode you can't see tearing anyway (you got stutter instead).

I think that you just got a lot of FPS with Vulkan so you can't see tearing like before, but THERE IS tearing, bore subtle but is there, Vulkan don't do magic trick with you monitor :'D

edit: or like they said, you aren't really in fullscreen mode so this is why you dont see tearing.

Vulkan doesn't just boost performance but reduces latency, between other things, as long as your GPU supports this features. Looks like ID did a great job optimizing this game.
