Snap Points?

What exactly are snap points? What do they do? What do they unlock? I have been unable to find anything out about them.

Create levels, publish levels, play and beat other peoples levels, and so forth.

Last I saw, there was a level called "easy snap points 2" or something in the list of maps under popular where you can get 500-600 points per run, runs take like 20 seconds as you get quad damage and infinite bfg rounds lol.

but when you get these points, is the armor also for multiplayer or not
