DOOM
Fastest (least demanding) AA?
I'm looking for opinions as I don't know which anti aliasing technique works the best. The 1x TXAA seems to do pretty well but I'd rather find the fastest AA technique.

Also, I'm playing at a nearly steady 60 on ultra textures, would I get a boost lowering it to high? I know there's minimal difference but I kinda don't want to sacrifice picture quality for frames if I don't have to.

I play on Ultra, with a mixture of high-medium other settings, (medium shadows because shadows don't matter to me but not enough to turn them to low and have ugly ones)

Specs obligatory:
a10 6800k apu 4.2ghz
gtx 960 oc 4gb
gskill ripjaw 8gb ram (2 x4gb)
1tb HDD
Windows 10

I can't help, because I have not bought Doom yet.

I think also that the only hint I can give will not be usefull for you.

However the best picture I can get is when I use Nvidia DSR and use 1440p on a 1080p monitor. Then add FXAA.

Easily the best image, and faster than using anything like MSAA. I have also seen others say the same.

Well I tried FXAA and 1x TXAA because I was under the impression temporal anti aliasing was the fastest, and they both seem kinda the same. I'd play the game without AA if I could but the jaggies are way too apparent with this engine and it bothers the heck out of me, normally I play all games without AA aside from R6 Siege.
I think it's FXAA. I also wanted to play with no AA altogether, but the image quality was a bit too low for my taste. I turned FXAA on and the game looks much better while still retaining high performance.

I was thinking that too, thanks for your input.

Yeah I felt the same, the game looks amazing but the jaggies turned me off of playing completely without AA.

Was also considering turning Virtual Page Texturing to High from Ultra but no idea if I'll lose texture quality.
FXAA is the least damanding AA around.

Great, will be sticking with fxaa then.

TY!

After trying almost all the AA settings I stated that the impact in fps is almost always the same, so I decided to leave the TSAAx8 for the quality. Lowering virtual texture pages from ultra to high improved fps a lot (for my 3gb vram). This setting tells how many textures should be preloaded from the gpu, if you switch from ultra to high you may see some texture that takes a little more to load properly, but definitely not much of a loss in terms of overall quality.
The AA in general has like minimal to non-existant FPS impact (no matter the setting). It's the other settings mainly impacting performance.
Erebus. AA is what eats most FPS mostly.

And yes, this game has really good AA that doesnt take almost any performance.

Not in this game believe it or not. The highest TSSAA x8 takes the same hit as FXAA. Its so low performance impact even the console versions use TSSAA x8. So crank it up, its not gonna kill your performance.

What kills performance though is
Shadows
Reflections

Those are the two big hitters in my experience.

I'm talking about in this specific game.
I'd be willing to read a thorough guide to all settings DOOM has to offer. I have found no such thing in the guides. Can anyone recommend any such guide?
Apart from MSAA, none of the AA options seemed to impact FPS.

Custom then, if you want to be anal about it like that.

I think I have those on medium right now.
