Going to do 100% run, which maps have missable secrets? (potential spoilers)
Which missions close off paths, have points of no return, etc, that I would need to keep in mind. I'd rather not get 90% through a map only to have to do it all over again because I didn't get a secret in the first run through.

Much appreciated to anyone who answers!

Pretty much all of them have missable secrets / points of no return. You just have to be thourogh. If you find the automap early enough, you can use that to find everything (it will show every secret on that map). If not, invest in the mapping systems on the Praetor suit.

First mission. The only thing you can miss is a data log at the very beginning. The rest is fully navigable so you can explore freely.

Second mission. The best. You can go to the very end and then back to the beginning. That is how you make maps!

Third mission. You're locked out at the very end, after the room with turbines. The rest is fully navigable.

Fourth mission. Fully navigable, I think, but I'm not 100% sure. Its map is really crazy, and I completed it twice and still find myself lost.

-- All missions above are safe unless you get too close to the very end. Things get worse after this. --

Fifth mission. You can't go back once you cross that loving bridge. And there are two secrets before that. After you get to the tower, there are some points of no return as well, and some secrets are freaking hard to find. This was the first mission where I didn't find all the secrets on my first playthrough. And I had to google one secret.

Sixth mission. Near the end, you have to jump over some flying rocks, then walk up a bit and then enter a door leading to a large area where the last big fight happens. You're locked out once the fight begins and you can't go back even after it ends. Before that, the mission is fully navigable.

Seventh mission. Mostly navigable, but you can't go back to the beginning. And there are two secrets. Shortly after the first point of no return there will be a large open area when you can drop down (I think there is a Nest there). That is a second point of no return, and as far as I can remember there are no secrets between the points of no return. After you drop down to that large area, you're in a fully navigable part of the map. You just can't get back up there, but the rest is navigable.

Missions 8-9. Lots of points of no return. I missed many secrets there, although most of them are pretty easy to find, but some are really hard. Pretty unbalanced levels. And very linear, on top of that.

Mission 10. Very linear, but mostly navigable. I don't remember exactly, but I don't think there was any points of no return. I could find all the secrets there on my first playthrough.

CORRECTION: mission 11 is full of points of no return, contrary to what I wrote here first. Besides, there is one secret that is very tricky to find. I'm not sure in which part it is.

Twelfth mission. You have to jump down at certain points, and there is no going back. The game also locks you out in the cooling room once the fight begins—that's the only non-obvious point of no return. Basically the whole mission is divided into three parts. I think there was one secret before falling down, three secrets in mid-part and one secret in the last part.

The last mission. All points of no return are pretty obvious—you have to jump down. But sometimes what looks like a point of no return is actually not. There are some tricky jumps possible to get back, but not everywhere.

To sum it up: be very careful with fifth mission, at the beginning of the seventh mission and throughout missions 8-9 and 11-13. These are most troublesome exploration-wise. And on every mission, be very careful when you approach the end. Sometimes the game just likes to lock you out there.

Twelfth mission. Not sure about this one. I feel like it was pretty navigable, but not sure.

The last mission. I think it was much like missions 10-11, but not sure. I was able to find all the secrets, though, so if there are any points of no return, they should be obvious.

To sum it up: be very careful with fifth mission, at the beginning of the seventh mission and throughout eighth and ninth missions. These are most troublesome exploration-wise. And on every mission, be very careful when you approach the end. Sometimes the game just likes to lock you out there.

Omg thank you! :)

You can redo all the levels after finishing the game and get what you missed.

Get the auto-map ASAP. The only thing it doesn't highlight are weapons and Classic Doom Levels. (They're kinda easy to find until ardent tower).

You're welcome, but please note that I wrote that by memory. I could get some things wrong. For example, I'm starting to doubt that there are actually two secrets before the first point of no return in the fifth mission, there could be just one.

What we really need is a verified list of points of no return for each mission, maybe with secret/pickup count. Maybe someone will make one someday.

I've been doing a 100% run, and I've found that I've been wrong about mission 11. It's full of points of no return at really surprising places. I've edited my post above accordingly. And I kind of get the same feeling about mission 12 too.

Awesome, thanks again!

Update on mission 11: I had to look up that last secret. It's in the last part, before the bosses. A hint: It's impossible to find using the map. Another hint: it's a reference to Doom 2.

I got that one in a previous run but thanks again!

He's clearly hiding his love for this game.
I saw him doing his usual hate-mongering some time ago.

As a matter of fact, I saw that on some picture in one of the data logs before that. It even said “imagine yourself worshipping before the Icon of Sin” or something. And I immediately recognized that thing. But, a) I didn't recognize the place when I actually got there (because I got bored of deteriorating map design and wanted to finish the game as soon as possible); b) even if I did, I don't think I'd try to do what it takes to find the secret.

I've just finished my 100% run, and I've edited my post to reflect details in the last missions, if anyone still needs it.
