DOOM
Do any people lower there resolution to play this?
Mein father suggested that I should lower the resolution so that the crappy graphics card I have won't have to work as hard...I'm wondering if anyone else does this.

i think its strange that the game crash, i mean that it is slow unplayable ok, but crash?
But maybe it wont even start with integratet graphicscard, then there is no other way to get a new pc, for newer games.

Alan, you do not have a GPU at all. No graphics card at all. You have what is known as "integrated graphics". It is just a few extra transistors in the CPU that can drive a monitor for people who do non graphical business work like word processing or watching videos. It's enough to run a few older games that aren't graphically demanding on low settings, but any modern AAA game will not work properly sorry to say.

You need a dedicated GPU "Graphics Processing Unit". There is no way you can even start a game as demanding as DOOM with just the integrated graphics on the intel CPU.

The Geeks at Best Buy take advantage of people who don't know better all the time.

If you want to play any modern game, your only option is to get a computer that has a GPU that is intended for gaming purposes.

well lets not get into semantics because the integrated gpu IS still a gpu. the issue here is that it is just too slow and does not have the proper drivers to handle this game at the moment even if it was faster.

The people at BestBuy don't even know a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing themselves. They just spin tech illiterates a line of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and try and sell them on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and what have you.

Company is unethical as ♥♥♥♥. They aren't alone though even the smaller "local places" in many communities tend to "bend people over". And that's just talking the legal scams, there's a plethora of illegal ones targeting people that don't know better like the "Window's phone call".

You need a better computer, not just a graphic card... Cheap "prebuilt" computers are too low power for gaming... They are designed to do desk jobs, not hardware intensive gaming... The motherboard do allow you to add a graphic card, but it's too "weak" to proprely use it... It's performance will bottleneck any good video card you throw at it...Your power-supply will surely be too low (most probably around the 350-400 watt, as standard by Dell's design...) as well...

You can build yourself a decent gaming computer for something around 600$ if you don't go too crazy...

I'm pretty sure there are still some used 3rd gen core i7 gaming rigs you could get for a decent price...

I agree

The resolution scaling is a good idea in the game but the overall image quality suffers if used.

Seeing as how this topic ventured into specs, I'm wondering whether or not I can run this game, since I've recently been looking for a blast-everything-to-♥♥♥♥ game and this looks like a blast-everything-to-♥♥♥♥ game with some challenge.

i7-4700MQ 2.4 ghz, turboboost to 3.4
GTX 765M
16 GB RAM

I'm not looking for anything crazy or anything, as long as I can hit a stable framerate.
