I expected the AI to try and stop you, I wasn't expecting it to just let you kill it.

I wonder if he'll dream.

He'll dream of electric sheep!
Nahh, he's probably just watching the video files he recorded of Olivia and Cyborg Hayden getting freaky on the Argent water bed.

What I want to know is what the h e l l V.E.G.A. stands for

Jokes aside, we will only know what will that backup file involve the future plot when the
sequel comes out. Though it's a mystery how VEGA, an A.I. that is so complicate that
needs a huge facility to host, several miles of cooling tubes, and a 4 story high system
core can be backed up within a second onto a tiny, USB-like device. It's just ridiculous
when you think about it XD.

Maybe just the AI.

Yes, let's ignore the fact that that's still pretty ridiculous, but the point is lol, the VEGA in his drive is no longer has full omniscience and control regarding the entire facility anymore.

I think this explains it. Doomguy is probably the treacherous Night Sentinel who betrayed the others, which explains a lot. I don't think that the Night Sentinel was evil, just overcome with grief with his son's death, and clearly loved his son more than anything else. What the Dark Lords did to his son, was their own undoing. Now you've got a dude that has personally experienced the treachery of the Dark Lords, and an eternal hatred for them.
Any parent could appreciate that kind of fury. There is no redemption or bargaining. They must die. They must all die.

Whats this have to do with VEGA? Keep in mind Doomguy's attitude towards Samuel Hayden when Hayden explains to him his ambitions for the powers of The Well. He goes from inquisitive to SMASH. Get fk'd Hayden~

VEGA, if you remember, is selfless. He is probably incorruptible. He is also extremely intelligent and can probably detect corruption. Basically, VEGA is innocent in the eyes of Doomguy. A powerful innocent that Hayden seems to care nothing for, but Doomguy does.

Also, games need narration when the protagonist is silent. Hayden narrated DOOM 2016. VEGA will probably narrate DOOM 2 2019.

Because Vega is like a disgusting, repugnant anteater?

I view this an act of compassion from the homicidal protagonist. Instead of completely destroying the AI that is helping him time and time again, he decides to ensure that it survives in some form. It humanizes the main character a bit

Not at all. That is like saying your hard drive is the same as your CPU. Just take my meager computer. My memory is on an m.2 drive. its the size of a stick of gum. That's it. Then take the CPU and GPU they are HUGE and both are water cooled taking up tons of space. My memory takes up about .5% of my computer space while the brains, the CPU and GPU take up more than 50% of all the space in my computer. Imagine now we have USB drives that hold a terabyte, that thing he grabbed was huge in comparison. It could probably hold thousands if not millions of terabyte of data. There is no brain there. Even still the brain of VEGA is small... the cooling is what takes up 99% of what we see on the vega level. We had to pull two neural processors out, and there were about the size of a football. :47_thumb_up:

not only that, but it was VEGA who also helped DoomGuy upgrade his weapons at a faster rate, thanks to the optional challenges he displays on his suit

This is just speculation but hear me out, at the end of DOOM(2016) Samuel sends us back to hell with the tether, well we don't know its hell but I'm assuming well start in doom eternal in hell. I also think with the facility on mars being destroyed Samuel returned to earth. I think the doom slayer assumed he was going to be betrayed seeing as he has been betrayed before, has been deceived. Constant betrayal means you cant trust anyone. He is seen solving puzzles and escaping traps, meaning he's not an idiot. He needed some backup plan that's why I think he pauses right before he kills Vega, and purposefully takes the backup. I think he will use Vega to get to earth from hell. Doom Eternal will also need a mission objective voice, Samuel served this purpose in DOOM(2016) but with him now being the presumed antagonist he cant be that voice anymore. Vega would also have a lot of knowledge on everything Samuel and the UAC. With the doom eternal announcement , and it now being confirmed that we will be going to earth I think this might be a valid argument, please feel free to point out the gaps in my theory. please bare mind that this is all just speculation.
