how many secrets p level?

I beat E1M1 and found 2 secrets but it said it had 3 when done. Now i'm doing E1M2 is that 3 secrets as well? does all levels have 3 levels max? i found the doom 93 room

The secrets appear with a ?, under the "Secrets" part of the map. Orange is when you found one.

I recommend using the map upgrades, only the level and room secrets wont appear on the map.

The number of secrets vary per level. From what I remember, collectables don't count as secrets, but can be found in secret rooms/areas (which will trigger a secret as found). There are a couple static numbers though: doom figure collectables are 2 per level and there's a classic doom area hidden per level.

Once you get your suit fully upgraded, most of the secrets will appear on the map automatically. Exceptions are original Doom levels and secret spots that have something minor like a medium armor piece. The original Doom levels can usually be spotted on the map by an area that looks like it's blocked off by a wall or abnormal door. As soon as you find that, start scouring the surrounding area for a lever.

I don't remember finding any collectibles that weren't secrets. Can you name one for me?
