Imps on Nightmare
So I am doing a nightmare run cause why not but I swear to god I can deal with any of the Demons except the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ IMPS. Their charged up fireball is STUPIDLY accurate. I try to target imps first before anything else but are there any thoughts on this?

Better learn fast bub, they'll follow you the entire game and are by far the most dangerous enemies.

I realize they are the most dangerous enemy and I am a good way into the campagin now, I just find it infuriating when I get blindsided by one of their suped up fireballs and it rips away so much armor and health

hahahaha, yeah, they're bastards, fast ranged attack, damaging close combat. And they always hunt in fast moving packs.

they are dangerous on begining on nightmare. i give you that. later they become weak thanks to your arsenal, bigger health

Wait till you have to deal with the pinkies or cyber mancubi on Nightmare... Both of those have given me way more "WTF WAS THAT BS" deaths than the imps, and they're far less common :P

Agreed. Even the undead commandos are tough on Nightmare at first, but once you can kill them quickly they're not much of a problem. EVERY enemy is a threat on Nightmare, but some are certainly worse than others.

You have to move in irregular patterns. They will predict your current velocity and lead you a bit to hit you, if you constantly change direction you'll suffer far less fire facials.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will apply it as I keep playing. I will say I have been dreading facing Pinkies though I do believe I have an effective tactic to deal with them.

stun grneade .also chainsaw is efective :)
anyway use bfg as you want (its live saver) game provide you lot of ammo.you dont need this weapon on bosses at all

Upgrade shotgun with explosive shot it wil l1 shot them. Once you have rocket launcher and double barrel use them instead

and no they dont lead and you never want to move irregularly vs them. if you do, you will move back where they shot from time to time. You just want to keep moving sideways when they shoot you.

These mo-fo are pissing me off. Keep on getting one shot when I emerge from a corner and the fireballs already in my face. They shouldn't be able to shoot you BEFORE they can see you. Pisses me off when they're on the walls as well and it takes twice the amount of damage to kill them - you think you can take them down before they finish charging their attack, but nope. They also have a nasty habit of climbing ledges and blocking you from following, leaving you mashing your face against the wall while a hellknight ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you.

they were buffed with the new update. it wasn't a great choice, IMO. all i can tell you is try to keep track of all the imps around you in the combat areas, as that charged shot can really ♥♥♥♥ you.

I was wondering why my ultra-nightmare attempts seemed so much harder...
Did they change the way the AI works, as well? I seem to get flanked or surrounded more often now, too.

i can't give you a source stating specific changes, but i've noticed a few big changes with certain enemies.

Imps- Better tracking

Posessed Soldiers- Better tracking

Hell Knights- Will run in front of your path and cut you off

Mancubus- Much better tracking. Will almost always hit you if you keep strafing in one direction.

Barons of Hell- Same as Hell Knights- will run in front of you and their energy ball attack has much better tracking

Revenants- This one is a little harder to be certain of, but it does seem like they have better tracking with their rockets now.

Yeah, I'm not so sure why they made the AI tracking better... it was hard enough to dodge beforehand, now I tend to get sniped from 30 feet away when I'm coming around a corner all to often. On Ultra-Nightmare runs it means there's a lot more of me yelling "WTF WAS THAT?!?!?!" when I die.
I't also seems to me the enemies retreat more often now than they used to; it makes the berserker powerup a lot less effective when the enemies all scatter when you pick it up.

i noticed this too. not big deal since you op anyway( i dont count ultra-nightmare as dificulity mode for me).i would rather see mode where you are not actualy op and healthdrops are very rare .instead of 1 death and end
