DOOM
Please Help!! :( :( :(
Okay, so, I've tried every solution I can think of to this problem - my game just WILL NOT launch...
Everything is up to date; Graphics drivers, Steam client, etc.
I've fully deleted and re-downloaded the game twice as well as verifying the game cache multiple times.
My system specs are: Windows 7 (64-bit), Intel i5 4670k quad core, 12GB DDR3 RAM, 3TB Hard Drive, R7 260X 2GB Graphics Card.
Now, I know I don't have the best setup in the world but I at least expected to be able to launch the game...
I was so excited to play this game so any help is greatly appreciated, THANKS!

Update: I've also run the game as admin, used "+com_skipIntroVideo 1" in the launch options, disabled anti-virus and firewall, and made sure NOTHING else was running (aside from the essentials, of course). Still doesn't work :(

Thanks again everyone for your replies!

Does your GPU meet the minimum requirements?

Run game as admin

To set your game to run with Administrative rights on a Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 system, please do the following:

Right click on your game's desktop shortcut.
Select 'Properties'.
Click on the 'Compatibility' tab and check the box at the bottom under 'Privilege Level' where it says 'Run this Program as an administrator'.
Click Apply and OK.
Once you have done all of the above, please rtry to start your game.

Not sure how to chat directly, make sure you have your 12 GB RAM available, dont have other stuff apart from Steam open! Doom seems to like about 8-10GB to play with. Card should be fine, have you had the game launch at any point at all?

Make sure you dont have anything in the Steam Launch options, if you have added anything, delete it, if not, dont worry. If you have launched at some point succesfully, go to the MySavedGames, Id Software, and delete the folder, then try Verifying Game Cache, which will probably take about 30 minutes, then try re-launching Steam and finger-crossed, you will have launch!

I had a similar issue by the sounds of things, and that worked for me!?

Yep, try that first! I forget how important that can be sometimes!

Thanks for the suggestion but, unfortunately, it didn't help. :(

Just a silly idea but disable Steam overlay. In Steam Library window right click Doom, select properties and on "general" tab switch off "use Steam community during game" and the SteamVR thing too.

If that doesn't work then also shutdown all the background applications with e.g. EndItAll2[www.docsdownloads.com].

By the way, are you running anti-virus software? Try temporarily to disable it. The new Doom uses 64-bit version of a DRM called Denuvo[en.wikipedia.org] which is a really tricky bastard. If it detects that something is being tampered on background it might prevent the game from launching.

I have an irl friend with a similar issue where the game just doesn't launch despite the fact that system requirements are met. He first suspected his CPU but apparently that isn't the case and is safe to rule out.

260X runs the game satisfactorily.

Your issue may be the more common crash issue that others are currently experiencing.

I do not know if this would help, but older versions of Doom had a .cfg file that could be edited to change game settings, like video, audio, etc. I am not sure if Doom 2016 has this file, or where it would be located. Other games had a file like this too, and sometime to fix problems you would force the game to recreate it by either deleting or renaming the file. My idea would be to close Doom and Steam, rename the file to something like "doom.cfg.old", then restarting the game. If it does not work, just rename the cfg file back to its original name. I would look fo rthe file, but I am at work right now. I hope this helps!

The configuration file folder is located in...
C:\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM\base\

...and deleting the whole DOOM folder might be a good idea. But in this case it probably won't do much.

had this issue the other day in WIN10. My radeon control panel crashed but seemed to be working again. Then Doom would not launch. It would say it was running, and steam had me in-game, but no program would open and after a few seconds it would sync and switch from green to blue. I'd already played through it once and had about 30 hours logged, so I knew my specs were fine. Verifying the files found NOTHING after about 45 minutes. Deleted a bunch of launch options, freed up some hardrive space, added a launch option to skip intros. Nothing worked. Then in a deep meditation I remembered the words of a master, "Have you tried turning it OFF and ON again?" Ok. Turns out windows wanted to do an hour long update. Then steam wanted to update. (I dont know if it couldn't before because windows wasn't?) either way it runs fine now. Still not entirely sure what fixed it.

i had a 7770HD and went to a 260x when fan died on 7770 and man it was a huge step down ...i mean like 20fps in eq2 and other games would run on low med at best ...xfx 260x sold it on cregslist for 45$ and got a 960 for that computer was 2-3x the speed over the 260 cost 40$ more then i payed for 260x was like 130$ at time 960 was 175$ish with newegg promo

260x would prob work 20-30fps on low till you got to foundry or hell levels
