DOOM

FPS equivalent of... Dark Souls ;)
Ok, before I'll hear how stupid this comparison is please let me explain.
I love DOOM series since I was little kid sitting on my father lap and watching him play.
So the this new DOOM is something I was really waiting for and... It's better than I hoped!

Now to the Dark Souls.
This it the only FPS in recent memory in which I can really feel fairness of the battle. If I die it's my fault. Then after death I know what I did wrong and I can try again. (this also makes game highly replayable)

Levels are huge with tons of secrets and there are multiple way to tackle every battle

Enemies are well placed, they don't respawn after killing (only if you die) so you never feel like in COD games or similar scripted shooters.

You need to actually use different tactics to kill certain ememies (Pinky back shoot= backstab in Dark Souls for example)

Boss fights- Bosses are not bullet sponges only. They have attack patterns you need to learn and avoid. Also multiple stages of battle.

Plot is simple at fitst glance but it's actually told via envoirment and lore- Which is suprisingly deep and well written. Just like Dark Souls :)

And last but not least- On Ultra Nightmare when you die you drop your helmet with name cause of death. So almost like bloodstains in Souls series.

Don't treat this thread too seriously. It's just something funny that I noticed. Who knows? Maybe some of You agree with this comparision:steamhappy:

PS
Sorry for my english

It's strange to see the comparison with Dark Souls. Doom 4 reminds me of Wolfenstein: The New Order / The Old Blood, but with platforming jumps.

The boss fights also reminded me of Dark Souls, maybe because it's not long ago that Dark Souls 3 came out. Now bullet sponge bosses and pattern memorizing has been around far longer than that. No reclaiming souls after you've died, though multiplayer offers "soul harvest" gameplay mode.

More like Dark Souls is the non-FPS equivalent of S.T.A.L.K.E.R...
XD

I'm about 7 years late to the discussion, but yes, I think some people agree with you, including the Doom creators:
