To resolve this, first of all launch the Nvidia Control Panel. Navigate top Display > Setup G-Sync. Then select the option to enable G-Sync for both – full screen and windowed modes. Next, navigate to the graphics settings and then disable V-Sync. This should remove the FPS cap.
I use AMD and haven't run into any cap issues, so maybe its a slight glitch with the nvidia software.
Be sure to check your control panel. If you have it set to anything but 'let the 3D app decide', then it will override game settings.
You overclock and you don't monitor?
I advise you turn your overclocks off as that statement leads me to believe that you have an unstable/poor overclock (most likely not the issue here, but still an issue nonetheless).
Overclocking 101, always monitor and test clocks for stability.
You should be monitoring what is going on when you have an issue. Usages, temps, etc.
It is most likely not vsync because half refresh rate for 144Hz would not be 90.
What driver are you using for you GPU?
on a 120hz monitor
