nope, wasd with a logitech mouse with 3 thumb buttons, 2 buttons next to left mouse. I literally can't stand the idea of using my wasd fingers for something that I could potentially need to do while moving. In this game I can only barely manage, since I still have to have f/g for chainsaw/bfg. Reloading is the only exception that I can handle with.
I use a Razer Naga soooo...I have no problem switching to any of my weapons on the fly. Really a mouse made for mmo nerdom, I know, but it works surprising well for shooters because of that, too.
Also, weapon wheels are for console plebs. Jus' saying. :p
+1
I only use that key for switching between current weap and previously equipped weap. But mostly I use the number keys and mousewheel. The auto switch when empty is also bugged. It doesn't switch to another weap when current ammo is out.
My problem with weapon wheels is just that they always suck. If it instantly came up and required minimal input I wouldn't be surprised if the weapon wheel worked fine in doom, because you could just hold the button down at the same time as flicking your mouse a tiny bit in a certain direction and then it would be done, but the weapon wheels always take like half a second to actually appear, either because of useless animations, or because the button does two things (tap swaps weapons/hold does weapon wheel).
If the weapon wheel just started instantly and didn't have any useless animations and the menu just appeared instantly I probably would use it, since I know that I would be able to use it accurately and fast enough that it wouldn't slow down the combat any more than scrolling through the weapons one by one.
Weapon wheels may have been created for consoles, but I don't think they are completely useless on pc, its just that they are never used well (atleast, I don't know of any games that benefit from one, and it works well, they are always really slow).
I originally did want to use it but:
1. there is a delay between when you press the button for the weapon wheel and when you can actually use it.
2. the slowdown is useless since it fades in and you should have finished using the weapon wheel by then.
